Author Topic: Arcane Archer description suggests impossible classes in base progression - FIXED  (Read 287 times)

The current description of [lore]Arcane Archer[/lore] states "Fighters, Rangers, Paladins and Barbarians become Arcane Archers to add a little magic to their combat abilities."

The class's Requirements call for a PC to already be able to cast arcane spells.

Something doesn't add up.

It's called Multi-Classing!

Most Arcane Archers are Fighters or Rangers first, then Wizards, or Sorcs, then Arcane Archers.

Reason being?  Because getting a +6 BAB with just a wizard would take a large number of levels (12), and since the PrC rules state you must have at least 5 levels of each class you wouldn't be able to pull it off pre Epic  :)

Can you say, "default NWN handbook description."

:p

I'll see what can't be done to make this more fitting for Layo.

Most people who take the class are multi-classed before they take it; I think the description is simply stating that you can come at the class from either a primary spell-casting or primary fighting mentality, rather than the literal way you're reading.

That said, I'm fairly sure that the description is bioware's rather than ours, and should probably be changed at some point, to a more Layo focused description.

edit: my slow typing strikes again!

Twelve levels of Wizard/Sorcerer (negating the fighter-type class requirement) and five levels of Arcane Archer meets the minimum of five levels pre-Epic requirement.

Also, isn't Bard be a better choice (than Wizard or Sorcerer) for the BAB progression?

a pure sorc or a pure wizard could become arcane archer.

it would take 12 level of wiz or sorc and 5 of aa, wich would put the char at level 17

Edit: Bah Argali beat me to it.

Changed up and flavored up the introductory description for the class. Moved to Fixed Bugs.
