No, I guess I should write a clearer explantation.
I took 8 lumps of coal out of a chest, I got 8 messages saying I had acquired a lump of coal. I had plenty of room in my inventory too. I then went into the craft hall (in Hlint) and started making crystal rod IIs. These take 6 glass and 2 lumps of coal. I made two attemps, which you can see in the picture that gave me the message that I had lost a lump of coal. With a 55% chance of succeeding, I only make one at a time. I could not find the other 4 lumps in my inventory. No message saying I had lost them, they were just gone. Something of a mystery, I can't recall this ever happening to me before. They are not in any of my chests, or in my inventory in any bag or box.
