Horse bug, character model changing
« on: February 22, 2009, 10:13:43 am »
Description: I just got to level 15 and I bought my own horse, when I mount on it, certain clothing won't show up so I change my outfit for them to reflect when I'm mounted. I finally change the clothing, and whenever I dismount, I get a horse on my head at first, and on my second dismount I turned into a HEADLESS DWARF. Whenever I mount my horse, my model changes back to the way it was, but now, whenever I dismount my character is still stuck as a Dwarf.

Location: Pranz (Central) Fort Vehl (West)

Reproducable: Probably, I've asked others and it has yet to happen to them.

This has been reported by one other person so far, and it can apparently happen if you dismount too soon after logging in.  At some point, an "Empty Creature Skin" will appear in your inventory and generally get equipped (so you no longer see it).  If you wait until everything settles after login (about 30-60 seconds, when you see that message about where your character is bound) before logging out, then you shouldn't see any problems.

I believe this can also happen if you don't have enough space in your inventory for a 2x2 object.  I'm not saying this is the case, but I could see it happening. Lastly, it can happen occasionally with high lag as well.

However it happens, log out while mounted, log back in, wait until you see the "bound" message and then dismount.

As for the clothing thing, there are some that are simply incompatible with the horse appearances, just like some clothing options aren't compatible with some races.

hahaha yeah i was a dwarf for a minute. i experimented and i logged out while mounted, when i logged on and dismounted i turned into a dwarf and i had TWO horses hahaha. so i did what dm dorganath said and waited for a while and then logged off. when i logged on i was a dwarf, i mounted again and dismounted after a while and im back to normal! HORSES ARE EVIL CREATURES D:<

UPDATE:

I just logged on and I had two horses, I mounted and dismounted on both of them, one was alright and the other gave me a horse on the head. I resorted to move them apart to differentiate the evil clone.

I never turn into a dwarf or anything, but I still have a horse appear above my head from time to time upon dismounting regardless of the amount of time between log in and mounting.  Usually takes anywhere from 2 to 5 dismounts before I lose it.   Now, I do not have the problem on central, but I do on West.  As for the PC marker ... once I get it from mounting the horse ... its there until I log off hogging up space. (Yes, I have plenty of space available still)

Its getting annoying actually since now my horse has TWO EVIL CLONES, one in Leringard and one in Fort Vehl. My character was also turned into a Dwarf. So much trouble for something that only gives a speed boost :P I only use him when gathering CNR. D:

On a side note, I'm back as an Elf! I think the model changes are because of the time frame in between logging and dismounting. Might have to experiment a bit.

A GM can take care of the extra horse.  Try and contact one while you're in-game.

Yeah, I was hoping it to disappear after the maintenance with a server reset but the evil clone still lingers. Thanks, I'll do that!

A server reset will do it too.
