Enable HTML or Table option
« on: March 22, 2007, 05:02:30 am »
We had a few thread that had tables in them. When the forum was switch all the HTML coding didnt integrate due to it not being enable on this forum. And such trying to copy a table from word or any other source that uses HTML as a format would not work.

Could it be possible to have HTML enabled or having the options of making table integrated in the forum please?

HTML will not be enabled because of the serious security risks with that (the old forum software was "cleaning" the HTML code to be "safer", which this new one can't do).

For example, with HTML enabled, anyone could (quite simply, with a little bit of knowledge) steal your login information to this forum!

Ok in that case could the options to make tables be integrated. Just as an exaple, in sour guild forum we had a tables for prices, gems crafting and such. Now we can not paste a premade table from excell or one made in word, the format are incompatible.

Having an option to make one directly from the forum would be very helpful.

BB , or Vcode is not one that supports tables. I have had the same problem. I find the simplest thing to do is to take a picture of the table and use
.

Sad, but that's the simplest way to do it and the way I have used in my conversions.

What you can do:

1) Copy the html into notepad or another webpage saved locally
2) Open this page via your browser of choice
3) Print screen of each table
4) Save the picture and upload it
5) Utilize to put the image onto the forums.

@Lunn, Aye i have been trying to do that for a few hours yesteday, unfortunatly the tables where to long or to wide or everythign that went wrong hehe.

Great thank you Orth this will be helpfull.

A side note, when I copied your example of the coding into a post in our forum, to show them how to do it, a strange bugged happened where the format of that post it self would be messed up, back ground becoming blue, letters being written outside of the post box stuff like that. From testing it out it is the that seems to do that. Also on testing, the colour and font of the text can be modified .

Thank you very much this will be a great addition to table lovers such as myself.

That code seems to work fine for me when I paste it, not sure how you're going about doing it, and yes the font can be stylized, just the cell properties can't like padding, margin, border etc.

I quoted your post to have access to the hidden codes such as then i just copy pasted it into my post. This is what i got    some lines had disapeared from what i had written as you can see with the
[tb] colomun 1... apearing right after the
which should have showned exaclty what you had written   becomes [tables]   and so forth

Ahh, yeah quoting things with are likely going to not have the desired effects.  Just point folks to this thread.
