Just read the new introduction and I noticed the above. I play a cleric and I am curious as to how this new deity relationship system affects us clerics.

Oh and I have only seem a few of the new creatures, but the ones I saw looked good. Still looking for pot-bellied pigs.

For example, the cost for raising or resurrecting somebody depends on the relationship the deity of the cleric has with the deity of the dead person.
Also some other cleric spells (like Healing Circle, or Bless) will only affect those characters whose deity is friendly or allied with the casting cleric's deity.

Well, it's not that minor when you are at 10 hp and really need that Mass Heal to affect you, but you're following a deity that's unfriendly from the cleric/druid's deity point of view...

Just an example on how careful you must be now, and take the whole deity system into consideration. :)

Also, it's very VERY important to always "check" which deity a dead character follows. Tath loosely follows Ca'duz, and even though he had a Soul Stone, it may as well have been a piece of rock candy cause pretty much every cleric out there (Including the one who raised me, sorry Nathanial), would get a 10k hit cause I'm an enemy of their deity. Very important... yep...

Actually Zero, your soul stone only caused me to get hit for 5,000.

It was raising that other fellow who was Neutral where I lost 2,500 points (I would have lost nothing if he had a soul stone).

Which draws a point:  SOUL STONES ARE STILL IMPORTANT!

I cleric of a deity neutral to yours would think nothing of raising you with a soul stone, but without one they may think twice.

I usually raise anyway, but I might not want to raise someone three times during a particularly long quest if it means 7,500 xp when (if that person had a souls stone) it would be no xp loss.

Zero's character hurt my cleric (at a 5,000 xp loss) that led to some good roleplay... a 10,000 point loss would probably led to a more negative reaction.

So please... for the sake of people roleplaying merciful clerics... carry a soul stone.

I might be a hard liner on this... but I use the "bless test" I cast bless with Berdin, and if my bless doesn't affect you, I figure Vorax doesn't like you, and/or you follow a hostile diety, Berdin is then doubly suspicious of you, and if you are a mage I won't even heal you... it's caused some 'interesting' RP in some parties, but I defy anyone to refute my logic :)
