questions for the team
« on: August 25, 2007, 05:54:40 am »
Reading through the forums , i came across the ban off Solarina and i saw something that makes me wonder.

I agree that the language used by her was far too harsh and i can understand the ban for that .

I do have two questions though that i would like to ask .

1 ; Since when is it possible for the team to read TELLS ?
on more then one occasion i was told and retold that the team
     CAN NOT  read TELLS.
So now i am wondering if that was added in the update ?

2 ; I read two talks with dm's , one stating that if she goes to the
desert , she can continue to do what she was doing .
The other a dm stating that she has to stop even-though what she
is doing is not prohibited and i was wondering if there is an official
rule coming on committing suicide and if the second dm has been talked
to by the rest off the team to ask if in the future that dm could act
according to the rules of the server instead of according to what
he wants as a person ?

Not an official answer but maybe beter than none ;)

1) So far I know they can... but this is realy a question to answer by a DM

2) This is an RP server, what kind of RP is it to run 50times in the desert (or attack the guards or who ever) and getting killed?
Sorry I cant see any reason for that. Suicide yes, but as stadted in the fantastic guide ( :p ) there are better ways than that. More maure and more RPlike ones.

I think the GMs chatting with her may have came forward to give their logs to L

1) GM cant see tells except if they are the one being telled. Which is what happened in this instance. The tells you are seeing are tells between the player and myself in the one instance. And it is visible in my log. The tells between the other GM and the player was never visible to me except when I saw the log afterwards.

 2) There are not rules for every little thing in the world. But there is one big overriding rule which is not written anywhere. This is a roleplay world and as such people have been asked to use common sense and stay within the spirit of the world. What she has been doing was in now way in the spirit of the world. I have no problem with her commiting suicide but there are other ways to go about it as I stated to her, which can be seen in my log. I told her she can ask for deletion.

So this was in no way about what I wanted as person but what I and another GM (Kobal) who was playing at the time felt was not in the spirit of the server.

I would probably have dealt differently with the situation was it not that I was in the middle of a quest I was running. So one player's actions was actually keeping me away from 12 other players. And after repeated requests she did not stop what she was doing and as an OOC act I placed her in a place (Vehl jail) where she could be stopped from doing it.

I was going to explain it to the player in tells, but sadly the player decided to go on an insult journey and at that moment in time I just ignored the player and let him get the ranting over. The player then logged out and decided to take it further on the forums. If the player just took a moment and actually tried to work through the situation with me I am sure we could have gotten to a much better place.

But sadly that did not happen. Once again my apologies to those people who had to suffer on my quest while this was happening. And to the player, well even though I dont understand that anyone could stoop to the level of insults that hit very close to home, I wish you the best of luck and hope you find a place where you can fit in and no hard feelings from my side regarding the insults.

I will not post here ever again but did wish to offer my apologys to you and the staff , I did over re-act and I was way off my rights of speech , letting my anger get the better of me and letting it take over. It was poor taste on my part. For whats its worth I never truely ment the words of anger I spoke on the insult level that is. Too little too late but thats my apology for whats its worth to yer spirit's sake. And please let it be known my words speak for none other then my myself and myself alone. No matter what I felt was wrong , I should not have stooped to that level , yer right aragwen. and dorg was right I could have just PM'd staff to work it out.

worry not I will never post here again , but I wanted to leave that apology for my foul wording, for I truely feel bad now having heard your feelings regaurding on the incident and re-reading my own words , and cannot leave without this apology , now that it is offered I am through. Those who know me well know i'm not that kind of person.

farewell and good luck on all of your endevors

You know, there actually are a few methods out there to actually read and log tells. Some servers use them, and I'm glad Layonara doesn't.
