    A question of ethics
    « on: June 10, 2005, 01:00:00 pm »
This is a delema I have had for a few days now. Is it unethical to seel goblin ears to newer adventurers? And if not, what would be an
    acceptable price?

    Sincerely,

Think this would be better placed in the General Discussion forum. As for your question, I'd say in real life it would be fine. However these quests should not be something that you can pay for to be completed. I'd rather see people RPing and asking for help to get them, than simply buying them. (Also there's a good chance they'd be spending a good amount of what they would make from the quest)

i think its more of an issue of RP.  i see nothing wrong with someone playing an aspiring merchant who doesnt do combat buying mini quest items from someone that has already done it.  I did it once a long while back with a charecter who was discriminated against, yet too weak to solo.  So he purchased quest items from players of questionable backgrounds so he could turn them in and increase his approval amongst the town. the entire thing was RP'd and i think it added more to my charecters depth.

IC wise the idea of the guards paying for goblin ears is rather shakey morally.  By doing this quest you're basically being a hired hitman.

OOC wise I don't think theres anything wrong with it if, as forgottencreature said, its done in an RP fashion.  Also note, that paying more for the ears than the quartermaster pays out is somewhat bad RP as the only tangible benefit (benefit your character sees) is the gold that he gives out.  Paying more than he pays out is aknowledging that fufilling the quest gives XP as well, something your character should be unaware of.
