Problem with backpacks and such (models)
« on: March 07, 2007, 04:44:53 pm »
Well, I have a problem with those nifty looking player clothing models, I think they are at the Neck -section. Those Backpacks with ropes, a bow and such show all distorted and the stuff on them is out of place related to the other parts of the model (like a bow's ends start at different places, ropes and such can hang in air). Anyone know how to fix this?

This bug got introduced about the same time as Bioware went to the dynamic cloaks. I spent some time trying to fix it, but I was not overly successful. I eventually had to just let it go, because I was spending far too much time on it.
It's not just you though. :)

On another note, is anyone besides me having trouble seeing the new colors? For some reason, only the metal versions of the new colors work for me. Cloth and Leather all show up as reflective silver if it's supposed to be a new color... which means I see a lot of shiny people dressed in mirrors running around... it kinda sucks. For reference, I'm running an ATI card (Radeon, 512mb). I tried updating the drivers but it didn't help.

Heres what you can do with you Radeon card, but since there might be younger people present reading this, I'll refrain from being specific. Suffice to say, you should buy a Nvidia instead. I can't stress this enough.

Reflective silver cloaks?

Check your override file for a colors overide that was needed for some custom mod on the vault.  That's what happened to me.  Remove the files from override and voila... normal cloaks in non shiney colors.... and realizing that the normal dark green for the game is puke green....

Sadly the problem described also occurs with NVidia cards as is evidenced by my wifes problem.  Not sure why her card isn't doing well with the new colors and mine is though, since we both have NVidia GeForce 5200 FX's.

Compare her settings to your's and check out your override folders. My colors work perfectly.

I started a thread titled "colors" that listed a similar problem. I doing a complete NWN wipe and start over. Just cus I'm home sick with nothing better to do for the whole day :(

End result is.... Wiping out NWN and installing it again and just installing the Layo Haks has cleared the problems. Redhawk

huh. yeah, I have some nwn vault stuff in my override; I'll see if that's what's up. thanks! (won't be able to really test it out until late today or tomorrow, but eventually, heh) I hope I don't have to reinstall.

oh, and my radeon works great, thank you. ;-) (really, I think I just started learning about the primary differences between ATI and Nvidia this year. Doh.)

my apple has an ATI, my PC has a nvidia.

Both have a different set of things they suck at and a different set of things they're good at.

That is, unless anyone wants to blame my ATI's goodness on the fact that it's in an apple *snickers*

Hehe. Maybe ATI will get better Talan, since AMD bought them ;)

If that is true, and AMD actually improves the chipsets of the video cards, I just might try one.
