Soak damage of +2... given that Nym is now level 23, is there anything at that level or above such as sharians, great forest etc that actually has weaponry weaker than +2 so the soak effect would actually apply?

Just a heads up, the new update coming will provide some interesting changes to the metal armors. I won't go into what they are (until after the update), so don't bother asking. As indicated by Dorg's post, it's coming soon.

Does this mean we'll have to OX our armors?

Only if you want/need the updated specs.

If not, then don't ox them.

Can't we simply exchange the items when a GM is on. So Platinum plate exchanged for platinum plate with new specs?

The ox pack will do the job and you wont need to wait for a GM to be on.  If somebody had an addition to their armor... resistances, troll ear etc... then they would want to flag down a GM. Otherwise... it is something you can do at any time on your own.

So would Nym have to buy an ox or could I ask someone to store and return my item using theirs... my dark elf has no RP reason to have an ox.

Using someone elses ox would work, just place the armor inside the pack... have them "load the pack back onto the ox" then take the pack off again showing the armor with new stats. All of this after the update has been put in place of course.

Also this will turn the armor back to it's default appearance... removing all changes to its appearance one might have done.

You could always buy an ox and use it for bait? LOL  ;)

All that's required is to put it in and close the pack, then take it out again.  You could probably pay or threaten someone to get it done.

and once again if you have any resistances etc. added to your armor (or about anything else for that matter) DO NOT use the OX method... it will erase those additions. In those cases seek a GM.

I think it'd be more of an OOC request Serissa. Handing armor over to someone to load onto an ox and then give back transformed is just not something worth RPing; to me its an OOC favor for a mech fix without me having to pay for an ox IGly just so I can update gear. Thanks btw to you both for the clarification and advise

If you see me on and need to my ox in an ooc manor to update armor that isnt a problem... just give me a buzz.

Ditto, my characters' moo-moos are welcoming your OOC needs as well with their magical bags.
