death question
« on: May 24, 2005, 11:12:00 pm »
Well to start off I died today and had to get raised.  Kind of embarassing for a cleric.  I should be the one raising but anyway.  I noticed while I was waitng to be raised that the Soul save vs soul mother had already rolled.  Does that mean that whether or not you get a death token is determined before you decide to respawn or not?  I was just curious.  I thought that check wasn't made until you decided to respawn.  Could you get a death token even if you are raised?  I thought you would only get death tokens on respawns.  Thanks for the clarification.

You make the check when you die.

Therefore every death you have a chance of garnering a death token regardless of the method of recovery.

I was going to ask something about the death token roll but I seemed to have forgotton.  Basically I thought the chance of getting a death token was based on your character level, so that a level 5 character would have a 5% chance and a level 10 character a 10% chance etc.  However I've noticed that with Bil anyway, it seems to be character level + 1 so that when he was level 5 it was 6% and level 10 it was 11%.

I just wanted to check that this was right

Everything you said is correct.  The +1 is to compensate for the fact that if you match the DC you beat it.

EDIT:  and acctually rollling a d100 against a dc of 6 is a 5% chance and rolling a d100 against a dc of 11 is a 10% chance.  Its because youre not rolling a d0-99 its a d1-100
