In Game Time Link
« on: June 05, 2006, 08:40:03 pm »
Hi,

I think I recall seeing this before, but I can't find it at the moment.  Can someone post the link to the current in-game-time clock, if such a device exists.

Cheers,

Stragen

In-game time is listed down the bottom on all the LORE pages.  :)

Time Conversion

The current time is on every LORE page as mentioned, along with the sundial in Hlint, the date function on the quill and parchments, and asking Aragen in IRC.

Can someone sticky this thread?  Time conversion is a common question.

EDIT:  That was fast.  Thanks, whomsoever was responsible.

So by this time conversion tool, a real life day is equivalent to fifteen days in-game.

  • 1 round = 6 seconds
  • 1 turn = 1 minute
  • 1 hour = 4 minutes
  • 1 day = 96 minutes
  • 1 week = 11 hours 12 minutes
  • 1 month = 2 days
  • 1 year = 24 days

proablem with that timeline is some chars that are human, would be in there 70's by now.. and not likly kicking arse as they are. what i tend to use for time, as it seams most taverns do as well, is; 1 week Real life = 1 Month In Game

The opposite will hold true as well.. think about this.  How much time have you spent in a tavern Rp'ing at teh freelancers or Leillon arms, lets say 2 hours in RL. That means you stayed at the bar for near 2 days or am i reading that right?

Sometimes charts and graphs were just meant to keep us warm by starting a good fire with them.
There can be only One.

Personally, I think this way.  I follow the established conversions, but when I'm RPing, what ever RL time it takes to RP that, is how much time passed in Layo.

I see most conversations as time-bubbled.

Pyyran's getting well on towards fifty, and it shows. There's a copy of the Layonara Time Converter (orth's brilliant but MIA converter) floating around, though, so not all is lost.

I have edited my original post to point to vgn's older one, instead. It's off by a day or so, if I recall, but still a lifesaver. Thanks, vgn. I expect him to start charging for it any time...

Thanks to you and vgn both, Acacea!

Now if I could just figure out how to press that button more than once...

Of course you're never RPing in a tavern for 2 months if it's actually one conversation.

However, you can't say your character only aged two years if he was there when the skies darkened and still there when they cleared again, that's indeed almost twenty years.

And yes, that does mean some humans are in their seventies if not older.

Still free for now, but don't let Vin know. As to being off by an a day or so, that is fixed now. It turns out that one of the two versions had the base time (epoch) not quite right. We won't go into which version had the problem.
