New casting sounds
« on: August 24, 2005, 09:30:00 am »
I just stumbled across some new spell sounds for NWN. Its from the game Baldurs Gate, the sound quality isnt what you're used to but its ok. So if you dont want to waste 4 hours or more making your own these will do fine.

It will replace all your normal chanting sounds in NWN. (the normal sound effect other than the "voice" will still be present)
Just toss the individual files inside your Override Directory in your main game folder and youre good to go (no this will not interfer with any hak packs on Layo, none of these files that you're replacing is inside the current Hak's)

Nice, new stuff! ;)

Do they really replace the original sounds? Would be great if they were added to the list, having a wide variety of sounds would totally rock. :)

Every time I cast a spell, I scream out the Latin equivalent.  http://www.gamewyrd.com/archives/latin.php

Flamestrike:
I doubt its possible to get a variety of sounds ingame, so you would be able to choose from them ingame, theres only so much we can do on the client side. But you cuold always make your own, well several if you like heh, and simply plop in the ones you like into your override Dir.

//if you like to make your own sounds for NWN, i'd be happy to send you a few pointers on how to do this, its fairly simple aslong as you possess a few sound files to replace the current sounds. Myself tried the sounds from my original BG2, which turned out pretty good. As a sidenote it takes time heh, and requires some form of sound editor. PM me if you want help getting started.

Lonarian... Your comment illicited the imagined scean of you at your computer screaming out latin everytime you cast a spell. At first it's funny because it's rediculous.. but after a moment of thought... it's funny because it's very likely true!

I put these in and I don't hear any voices (or just barely so they arent discernable.)  Just sounds like a funny sound effect overtop the normal sound effect.

-TV

Edit: We should record Lonnarin shouting in latin and put that in ;)

"the sound quality isnt what you're used to but its ok" I did not promise you THX quality. This was made by someone else mind you, he took his time doing so, you unzipped and BAM :D
And this is from a very old game too.
