Little colored star thingies..

Just a curiosity...I noticed that under our forum rank (orc, goblin, etc) there are various colored stars.

Earlier this evening I had three lovely colored stars. Now I have one.

I know it's not a big deal, just curious what the stars signify.

 Neither of those threads are asking the same thing I was.  The first dealt with the big gold star when someone is logged in.  The second concerned the adding of the '-L' to a topic.  So ha!
