Bugs created by the latest batch. Read!
« on: November 22, 2005, 09:39:00 am »
The last update to Layonara was huge and gave us all sort of nice new goodies but a few bugs managed to slip past the testers. While the team works to fix these I'll give you some information on these bugs.   On the last update we changed how the system evaluates if you are allowed to rest in the clothes/armor you are wearing.  This change created a bug that can cause your armor to become unidentified.  When ever you try to rest in an armor that does not allow resting, the armor becomes unidentified when you unequip it.  So please, do not try to rest in armors that usually don't allow resting or they will become unidentified. The easiest way to avoid this bug is to always wear regular clothing with no armor bonus before trying to rest.    Also the two spells that you can now find from the level 1 cleric spell list, “Summon Dretch” and “Summon Krashin Barbarian” were never intended to be added as cleric spells. They are related to another project that is still being worked on.  Casting these spells can cause some major problems and annoyance so please refrain from using these spells. If you do cast one of them the only way to fix the situation is contacting a DM.

Also something to note: If you try to rest while wearing a heavy armor but the rest is stopped and then, before unequipping that armor, log out you will not be able to log back in. One more reason to avoid doing this.

If this happens to you.  Log in to the Invalid Character Module, unequip everything that you have on and then log back in to the live servers.
Invalid character module is located at:   64.127.106.68:5122   and uses the normal password.

FYI, I fell victim to this as well. I entered the invalid player area, took off the armor, logged back into central successfully.  I do need a DM to identify my armor again however.  I'll check for one on the west.

Edit:  Armor problem solved thanks to Mixafix

This is not just full plate or heavy armor !

It happened to my character wearing iron chain mail which is medium armor.

I was able to ID it with a potion and went on my merry way.

Also magic vendors will ID stuff for a meager 125 coin.

or you can buy and ID potion from them for around 700 to 800 *smirk*

I had an ID potion in my inventory to begin with.  It didn't work *shrugs*.  Probably because I have no lore to begin with I guess *shrugs*

Though it took a server bug to bring it about, Layonara's bard population can perform yet another public service. * Dusts off his Tome of Bardic Knowledge * Ifion will take a shot at identifying any item. And if he gets it right, he'll only charge you 75 gp. What a deal.

Yeah, took a server bug...which means that although Acacea was more useful for a day, most of it was OOC usefulness. Doh.

"Can anyone identify my armor for me?"

"Uh. Sure. *Points.* That's...that's your armor. That'll be twenty gold..."

Well this is one bug I hope they fix sooner than later. At time when I go to type to someone I hit the return key but it does not register and I instead am typing commands. And as I am a fairly fast typer I can get about four words in before I realize I am not typing anything. As the T key is bound to rest for me and T is common I try to rest in my armor.. ANYWAY... Hope it's fixed soon but I am very glad there is a work around.

set your rest key to be something you hardly type. I use the minus (-) key from the number pad.
