Best Fantasy Movies of Recent Times
« on: September 12, 2013, 04:51:21 pm »
Hey All,I am looking for a good movie in a fantasy setting that has come out lately.  I have watched the obvious choices (e.g. Hobbit, Harry Potter, etc..)  Any other suggestions?

I will think of some and tell you!  ATM I'm drawing a blank, despite loving the genre and hunting them all down

Did you see the one that is sort of like seven samurai but with Templars?  Was that any good?

Not super recent, but Willow is the best movie ever made in my opinion.

How about the various animated works of Studio Ghibli? Howls Moving Castle is a great fantasy world movie. And many others are mostly based on earth but with a fantasy twist to things. Other Ghibli works I'd reccomend, Nausica, Princess Mononoke, Kikis Delivery Service, Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Ponyo, Secret World of Ariety.

I have Canadian Netflix, which is code for "poor library".  I will poke around for it, but I won't hold my breath.

G452-I do have to watch some of those anime's.  I have heard such good things.  I have not really watch anime since Urosokidoji; I must have been traumatized.

The name of the Templar movie is "Ironclad".  I started watching it and depsite having Paul Giamatti and James Purefoy, it was pretty bad.  Obvious story that is not well-earned and mediocre action they try to bolster with gore.

I might re-watch Willow soon.  It has been years since I watched it.

Hey Gil.

Don't worry I have Mexican Netflix, and even if i am dissapointed at what i expected to find there, ironically the series is there, sadly only 3 of the five seasons are there, its kind of old series , so guess you may find it,  Its "The adventures of Merlin" the one that i am talking about,  Not sure if that is the one that milty was refering to.
