    Places and Things to do at lv3
    « on: May 23, 2005, 06:48:00 pm »
    I really need help with what to do as a level 3 rogue.  I've killed the rat king with help mind you several times, I can't go down to the bottom level  by myself, not quite strong enough to take on five rats and a spider at the sme time.  I've killed the skeletons in the first two smaller crypts several times, I've helped tax lady.  I helped the mail carrier once, Johan pelts once (don't know where a bat pelt is).  I don't know where I can go outside of Hlint that won't kill me easily yet I can do by myself (I have ran to Krandor before); seeing as my friends are never on at the same time as me.  I really need money and exp.  Please if anyone has an idea(s) that would be great.  I admittedly am a little timid when it comes to fighting and worry about dying too much.  I truly wish that I could find a group of people that I could meet up with regularly in order to gain friends and comrades in the game as well as gain exp and further my story.  It's frustrating.   :(

      I know what you're feeling man. Belit's a lvl 6 rogue, and there's still not much I can do by myself. My suggestion is to make more friends. I always RP introduce myself to EVERYONE, and alot of the people are so nice that, if they're planning on going out somewhere, they'll let you tag along. Don't get frustrated if you're not taking a very active role while adventuring either. The first party out went out on, they had me invisible the whole time, and therefore I couldn't attack anything, just spectate haha. That does help though to show you what to do and what not to do, and (I hate to say it) you get free XP and gold (usually you'll play the role of the looter). Perhaps if you get lucky you can try going down into the Red Light Caverns in the Goblin Wastelands west of Hlint and getting some goblin ears for a quest the barracks guy in town assigns you. I'm on quite often though, so look for the username RaHoorKhut93 and the character Belit Glenhobber. I'm not exactly a high-level character, but I can help you in some easier areas if you want.

        RPing with people is always a good thing to do. if they are going somewhere and you talk to them they will almost always let you tag along. I know if someone who is RPing with me i'll let them come along with me.

        Just talk to people they'll be helpful

        *points up* Yep...what he said.

        Sometimes, mid- and high-level characters have been known to escort lower level players into places normally dangerous to them so that they can get some practice and get stronger, more confident and able to leave Hlint without dying quickly.  And sometimes, they just like the company.  And sometimes they just enjoy showing "new" people around.

        The best way to get this to happen is to be a little assertive and introduce yourself.  Ask for a guide to show you Seilwood, or ask for help in getting the dark soul essence or the goblin chief's head or something.

        In most cases, it's not really intended for anyone under say level 5 to venture out alone into the world without some significant measure of danger.  Going in groups is the best way, and it encourages RP.

        Try it.  You'll see.

              Not a problem man! Sorry for the few times you died, be happy you were still a lvl 3. A few levels higher and you would have lossed a whole buncha gold. That was quite fun though, any time I'm on just look for me man  :)

                It's my personal opinion that the best time for hard core RP, is at the lower levels for a few reasons.
              [list=1]
              •   Make friends. Every character needs friends or compadres of some sort. Also if you have friends long enough they become Apprentices, Masters, Partners in Crime, an all that good stuff. It's a good way to develop your character.
              •   Another reason is to learn things. Learn things from the vetrain characters and that will most likely impact on your development.
              •   And then there's the general, you wouldn't want to go from level 1-20 without something signifigant happening or without having anyone know your name. Your name should become more known as you level, you are on your way to being the stuff of legends and once you hit that Epic mark you want to have something to look back on and say, hey, I did that!
                 Plus, RPing is a good way to meet people to adventure with. Oh right, it's an RP server too, so RP while you kill stuff. ;)
