Spell resistance
« on: June 03, 2006, 10:53:38 pm »
Does anyone know the actual formula used to determine if a caster can penetrate spell resistance.  I am interested in knowing the factors that go into it to figure out how best to train a character to be good at penetrating spell resistance.  Thanks.

there are also a number of spells that lower SR if you cant beat it, such as Spell Breach and MD, hit something with one of thouse then your chances are alot better.

Clerics can't cast Mordekainen's Disjunction, though. ;)

good point, well they can still cast greater dispelling, so if the SR is a spell, you can dispell it. im pritty sure disspells pass trhough SR. But clerics can also just run up and hit things if they cant get past the SR.

I thought also the level of the spell you cast, adds up.

Yep, Spell Breaches and Dispels pass through SR and even Spell Mantles last time i saw. And yeah the penalties to SR stack if you cast multiple Breaches or Mordekainen's .

Hmm yeah, spell level is only used for the DC, I looked it up.

I also read somewhere that you can't lower a monk's spell resistance.

Could be because a Drow's SR is granted by a subrace skin, but when Spell Breached, or Disjunctioned, Syn's SR was lowered more than once.

I don't know about Monks, but it doesn't make much sense if their SR can't be lowered, though if that's indeed the case, more power to them. ;)
