Step It Up...

I'm really proud of Layonara, and proud to say... "Yeah, I've played there for eighteen months." However recently I've heard some not so good things about Layonara. Some I know to be flat out lies, while others I know to be somewhat true.
While many people are generalizing and basicly saying the entire player base is full of bad RPers, and nothing but hack n' slashers, I know that not to be true. So what I'd like to ask is...
Think before to speak. ie: Try not to ask the first person to meet to go kill things. Try not to use their names until they're given to you. React to the different races as your character would. (Drow especially) Play your class, intelligence, wisdom, and charisma. And if you have a few minutes, head to Hlint and RP with some of the new players. I know you guys have it in you... it seems all I ever see is the good stuff... I just wonder why few other people are.

I agree Zerovega. I see lots and lots of people acting IC, and RP'ing here and there and everywhere. Good job.

A thing that I have seen happening a bit lately though is the use of party talk by people in for instance Fort Hope to tell people in the Berhagen Mountains that they are on their way, want to buy a bow, etc. Please use a tell for that, or wait until you are near the people you are talking to.

And remember to try to keep OOC at a minimum. If you need to say something OOC, dont use party talk, since there might be a quest running, and it GM get all the party talk on the server - not only that from the party they are following.

*nods* Yep that is pretty much exactly how things should be working. Stay IC as much as possible, not use Party Talk to talk to players in other areas, don't talk when dead etc.  If it something that is OOC use do a tell to a player.  Now, sometimes it has to happen OOC in a party due to some sort of RL issue but they should be pretty rare and far in between.  It is important we preserve the RP of Layonara and that rests on the shoulders of each individual player.

A friendly reminder for new folks.
If you are on a DM run quest and you die "wait for help" about 99.999% of the time the DM will raise you if your Party RP's an attempt at lifesaving measures. Not always the most realistic, but it beats backtracking to escort you back from where you bound at and then restarting.

If you are dead, don't talk. especially on a quest. Way back when I first started here I was on a quest that lasted 3-4 hours and I got killed. I spent about 10 minutes dead, and grew impatient, I said something on party channel like *Is still lying dead on the floor* and when it came time to get XP for the quest I got NONE. I thought it kindof harsh at the time, but I was told why, and that lesson has stuck with me ever since.

Don't be afraid to talk to anyone. Do yourself a favor and don't right click on anyone, it just gets intimidating and silly, if you need something or want to ask about something just start talking. Unless someone is really pressed for time you will at least get an introduction.

Also, for all you level 1s out there... remember that if you do have a habit of right clicking on someone to see what their Challenge Rating is... those Impossible characters, might only be level 6. ;) That's right... just think of me as a level 6 wizard.....please.....
