The contract with Milara; are the seven years over now?

Technically yes, but no. I don't know that anything will ever come of it unless L writes something up or something.

The 7 years have passed. Nothing changed after on the day that the contract ran out - no army marched forth from the Mountains of Madness - but they have passed.

Wasn't it an illegally signed treaty anyhow that had no support from the noble houses who actually held the titles to the land upon which it was signed?  I seem to remember when the official announcement of this treaty was made, a follow-up post was ammended by the Rilaran nobles denouncing it.  Unless I missed something and Plenarious is the official King of Rilara/Commander of Bloody Gate now...

:P

You assume that Milara, who occupied Alindor and allowed no other authority to really exist however legitimate it may have been, would actually acknowledge such nobles as legal and legitimate authorities....which I'm guessing he would not, since he more or less usurped them anyway.

:p

Actually, you may want to read again what it exactly was that they said:

aha!  thanks, there it is!

"In the name of the Allied Duchies of Morholt,
It is hereby declared that the families Roste, Mullein and Virvatule, in the light of the recent world events and the ensuing public unrest, invoke the Military Clause of the Morholt Treaty, thusly declaring a state of war throughout the nation and appointing Lord Vantamas Volt Virvatule as the Lord Commander of the United Armies of Morholt.

Commander Virvatule assures the people that Glorious Morholt shall stand united against any foe and warns all those who would seek to harm us that the indomitable spirit of Morholt will not succumb to any lowly threats.

Furthermore, ***the Allied Duchies of Morholt wishes to make it clear that the group led by the dubious person Plenarius Ashaley has in no point in time been appointed to negotiate on part of Morholt and that the state does not feel bound by any agreements signed by the aforementioned individual. The state also firmly condemns the attempts of the of outsiders to gift away Morholtian soil to which they can claim no right to.***  In the name of the Alliance, And before it's people, Signed by,
His Lordship Vantamas Volt Virvatule The Lord Commander of United Armies of Morholt and the Grand Duke of Virvatule
Her Ladyship Raunal Roste the Second, The Grand Duchess of Roste His Lordship Frane Muel Mullein The Grand Duke of Mullein"

I guess the million goldpiece question at this point is... who/what the heck is the "Morholt"?  What are their boundaries, juristiction and titleship?  From what their response read, it seems they appointed a new general, though I haven't heard much from him since that post.

This counterposting to the main treaty announcement seems kind of nebulous though.  What authority do these three houses in particular have over the lands and what is their history?  Are they of royal lineage part of the accepted feudal hierarchies, or merely powerful entities that operate independantly of the state?  The governments and hierarchies of Layo are so confusing... which I guess should be expected in this time of chaos.  "Might makes Right" seems to be ruling in place of succession & tradition, seeing as how Milara spent so long unopposed for 7+ years.

Yes, the whole Milara thing seemed like an OOC thing to keep players out of the area with that dragon thing.  Nothing seemed to change on Rilara, including Bloody Gate (except for a few OOC signs).  What's the scoop?

It was rumored ICly that the signer(s) of the treaty will, by having done so, be cursed with a terrible fate.  Not being a participant in any GM quests I never heard anything further, IC or out.

I suppose this is all moot now since the world isn't going to be updating any more and plot quests are gone.  Some closing of our own PC's time period would be welcome, though.  I'm always after a good story.  :-)

Plot quests gone? Far from it.
And something did happen, oh yes!

And there will be 10 pages of Morholt goodness in the next handbook. You can already see the borders and stuff on all the new maps that you can download.

Time to finish the "Varka paper," I assume. So...before the handbook is finalized, probably.

PnP is helping me to finish the story about Varka as I am not the best writer. I work with calculations and done that for the last 8 years; so I guess you have a pretty good the picture of the situation.

And yes Acacea, I hope it can be implemented in the handbook among with the other WL papers.
