Stacking Spells
« on: January 20, 2008, 06:21:58 pm »
So this is mostly me being really terrible at figuring out the fine points of things like how spells interact (which has a lot to do with why I play fighters and not magic users!)  :D

Say my paladin casts Bless (+1 attack and damage for all allies near caster), Divine Favor (caster gains +1 to attack and weapon damage), and Prayer (all allies gain +1 to attack, damage, skill, and saving throw rolls).  Do these stack, such that my allies now have a +2 to their attack and damage, and I have a +3 (because of Divine Favor on me)?

If not, can somebody give me an explanation I'm likely to remember for how to tell which spells stack and when/why?  :\\

 Thanks!

They do stack, I thought Bless was attackbonus only though? And Divine Favour's bonus becomes higher for every five levels (+2 at lvl 10)

EDIT: Bonus to attackrolls and damage always stack, if they do not involve enchanting a weapon.

Attack bonuses will stack until you are getting +20.

Damage bonuses will not stack, and the damage bonus that hurts the most will be used for damage calculation. (Except in the case of the paladin staple Divine Might and the other divine damage you can cause)

Armor bonuses do not stack, except for dodge bonuses, which will stack in the amount of +20. All other armor bonuses will use the highest armor bonus of the proper type.

Skill bonuses stack as far as I know.

Ability bonuses stack until a max of +12, however you need to use different spells to get there. Three bulls strength spells won't give you +12, it will only take the highest roll of the three.

Enhancement Bonuses do not stack, and only the highest will be used.

There's more but that's all I know of the top of my head.
