NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Re: Hot and/or Cold« on: July 01, 2006, 12:39:21 AM »
Well of course Ive been using common sense to figure out where its real cold and real hot. The main thing I was interested in knowing was how the temperature has been affected by the new sky just didnt know where to ask it and got the minor idea of knowing what the temp was by some means at the same time.
As far as the months go different people would get a different idea of the season based on where they live in the real world, however, US based server so Ive been going by US based seasons on Mistone and attempting to adjust based on where the continnents would be on a globe not flat. But, lately the sky is covered and the season is changing into summer, and mainly I just wanna know how my characters are supposed to be reacting to current temperatures. The idea for a way to see it is just a sidenote, and since I didnt know where to ask the question about temps I lumped it in here. The thing about the cold script is an interesting question too. If the temp is really affected badly are we going to start seeing places change to snow and use the cold script? Yikes. but neat if so. 3

Server Rules / Re: Price Fixing?« on: June 25, 2006, 12:00:23 PM »
I remember when things were sold for absolutely outrageously high prices, like double the lens value in alot of cases. My char Suannu has always gone far under these people in selling and when I returned after a long absense was amazed to see people selling around 'lens' value. If Suannu ever bumps into any of this RP she is on Cym's side.

Time to think
After a long rest Eagle Who Watches Over The Song awoke late in the day and felt worn out and run down even though he had slept quite a while. He sat up and put his head in his hands a few tears running down his cheeks, thoughts of the battle still running through his mind, what little he could remember anyway. Hours passed and the watchers blazing eye disappeared over the horizon closely followed by the dull gray eye and Eagle Who Watches Over The Song got up heading to the small pond in Hlint to wash his face. A few fish swam through the water as he leaned down reminding him of how hungry he was. Earthmother had provided once more however and he watched the school of fish swim as he pulled out his bow, and the arrows for fishing he had purchased with the coins. He pulled back on the bow concentrating as he watched them swim remebering how the water made the fish seem in a different place than they really were, taking a deep breath and holding it he let the arrow fly....... and missed. He sighed and pulled back his arrow with the attached line and tried again. Slowly his mind began to calm as he concentrated on the fish and eventually he started to hit a few. Time passed, his body and mind slowly regained some strength, and he decided he must take things a little slower and not let his emotions rule his actions. His father and Howling Wolf would not be happy that he let his desperation take him over these past few days. He must be calm and think, or he will fail. He gathered a few fish and made his way to a few other spots he had seen so far catching a few here and there. He made his way back to Hlint with a string of fish and cooked them over the fire taking his time even though now he was very, very hungry. He ate, and slept well that night awaking early and feeling alot more refreshed than the day before. He had plenty of food and decided he would not rush into this new day and take some time to think. Eagle Who Watches Over The Song bought some axes from a merchant and began thinking that maybe these coins did have use in such a large society. You could hold on to them for as long as you wanted and go and get whatever you needed at any moment. Perhaps these peoples werent as rediculous as he had thought. He made his way out the gate to the north where he had seen the trees that reminded him of those he was used to and began chopping, after defending himself against the creatures there, and soon had almost more than he could carry. He went to the building that was used to store many tools and things and began working with the wood. It was a bit different and he realized that the grain and texture wasnt at all what he was used to working with. It seems he would have to learn all over again, but it was relaxing and calmed his mind, which is what he wanted, and he began to think more clearly. He would get home, whatever there was to find there when he returned. 6

A Strange New Land
Eagle Who Watches Over The Song made his way to the place called Hlint his skin a bit cool from the different climate. He saw no others as he went along his eyes darting taking in the land as well as watching for danger. The battle that nearly killed him was still fresh in his mind even though it had been nearly three months since it occured and so his mind still raced with thoughts of it. Mainly wondering what had happened, if his family, his people, were still alive. He hurried along faster hoping that someone he met would know of his people and his home so he could get back to them. Finally he made it to Hlint and made his way around carefully, asking the merchants many questions. They had no answers but were more than happy to remind Eagle Who Watches Over The Song that he would need many supplies to make his journey. He had little to trade and was a little discouraged hearing that the merchants would take nothing but gold in the form of disks that they called coins. He wandered town more asking more questions here and there and found out he could aquire these coins by performing tasks for some of the people in the town and so he accepted a few jobs making sure to gather many things along the way so that he could trade them for the coins. His people knew what gold was but he had never seen a people with so much of it and especially to use it exclusively for trade. It seemed to him to be an extra step that was not needed, why not just trade for what you need and be done with it. He stayed to himself mainly as he completed his tasks the main thing on his mind returning home and somewhere behind those thoughts what the great beast had said to him lingered..... Destiny..... His family.... His tribe..... It raced through his mind pushing him onward never stopping to comtemplate any of it, simply driven by the emotion surrounding it. Days passed and he found that he had to store all these coins he was gathering. He had spoken with the man at the thing called a bank but did entirely trust such an arrangement, but with his pouches becoming increasingly full and jingling noisily he decided to keep a little bit in the bank a few days to see what would happen, eventually trusting the man and keeping all of his coins there. Eagle Who Watches Over The Song hardly stopped to rest as the days passed, each new one bringing more urgency as he completed task after task. His skills were growing quickly, more quickly than he thought possible until finally his body could take it no longer and he had to slow down. He began to wander around inside of Hlint watching and listening to the travelers that constantly came through, unable to keep from staring at the strange beings that he had seen in his vision, and soon he gained the confidence to begin speaking to some of the people. He tried not to stare at the beings that werent men but it was hard and found himself being very apologetic, though they seemed to understand, and he soon realized they were much like men in many ways. He found help with a couple of his tasks and the generousity of the people he met made him feel even more at ease. Still though home was always on his mind, that and.... Destiny. 7
CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Re: Poison arrow crafting« on: June 11, 2006, 08:19:01 PM »
I for one would be happier with the ability to make one poison arrow at a time that the poison stays on until fired. Twenty at a time would saturate the market rather quickly with lower end poison arrows, unless the required crafting level was rather high and I dont think anyone wants that.
Dont even have to complicate it that much for me, 3-5 recipes would be nice. 8

Calm? Who's upset? As far as the technicals, I do understand why it isnt under woodcrafting. But as I stated, if noone says anything then nothing gets done at all. At least now there has been some discussion.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Re: Paper and Sandpaper« on: June 11, 2006, 10:38:39 AM »
I posted in the wrong place the first time is why in two places and planned on asking the first to be deleted, just got sidetracked and havent gotten to it, which I will now since it bothers you as much as making sandpaper food does me.
Making paper, lets see, wood pulp, wet it, put books on top of it, let it dry, tadah, simple if brittle paper. Done it, seen it done. Making modern paper, totally different. Dont base you perceptions of paper on what we have today. Shred the wood fine enough and it matters not what type you start with. Well, maybe a few woods wouldnt work too well. Make more sandpaper huh? More oak, or waste the mahagony, as far as if I were a cook instead of tinker, well, I am, but because I make sandpaper, not food. I would have to make an amazing amount of oak to get even to a 30% chance of making mahagony, maybe 40% before oak becomes trivial and provides no more xp's, then its on to brewing alchohol in order to learn how to make better sandpaper, makes alot of sense, not. If it was under tinkering I would still be saying something about the difference in the percentages. If I had spent tons of time brewing and cooking and sandpaper was an easy thing for me when I got around to it I'd still have a problem with it being under cooking. It makes zero sense. Cross-discipline? How many crosses do I need to make a bow for crying out loud, I have to be a cook, a tinker, and a woodcrafter to be a bowyer/fletcher, rediculous. Making sandpaper has nothing to do with food or beverages, period. Even if it was put under tinker I'd still be at the same relative level anyway because of the reduction in xp's the better I get. As far as the power of the final item reflects the difficulty of the pieces needed it isnt reflected in some of the other skills I have. Some things are trivial for me to make and are components for some very high end items, which they should be, they are after all simple to make (simple probably not the right word) Outcry? Well, heres my outcry, and its posted here cause I couldnt find any other thread on it. Not like I'm gonna go insane or anything if it doesnt change, and the only way to way to cause change is to speak out, hence this thread. Someone has to start it off and if it goes nowhere then I know I tried and didnt sit around in some dark corner complaining to myself like an idiot. 11

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Re: Tinkering« on: June 11, 2006, 04:53:42 AM »
I think the str based fighters have an easier time in almost all crafts. They have a much easier time killing the creatures "gaurding" the materials, and then can carry much more materials without needing an ox at all, which has a twofold benefit of not running the risk of losing said ox in a dangerous area as well.
On the other hand the "gathered" materials (fruits, nuts, sand, etc.) are just as easy, if not a little easier, to get for some dex based chars by simply sneaking past the enemies and getting what you need without having to fight at all. However, this process is much slower than simply going in killing off everything and gathering an incredible amount of materials in wieght to then take and craft till you drop. Imagine the strong char who can go in kill everything, getting available materials, go and place them on an ox, then go back for more, filling the ox and then themselves with materials and go and craft and craft and craft and craft and craft and craft and craft while the weaker chars have to get a party together (if getting things that you cant stay hidden to get), get a little, possibly walking very slowly back to thier ox, filling the ox up, maybe filling themselves up resulting in a reduced movement (remember too that the rules state you are not supposed to burden your char to an unreasonable amount of weight) and then go craft using up the smaller amount of materials they got and having to do it all over again before the stronger char has even finished crafting from one trip. Sure the people you need to help you kill can carry stuff as well but usually two or three of them want an even amount of the gotten materials for themselves reducing the amount you personally would get even more. Is there a way to fix all this? Not without lots of thought and tons of complication. 13

You didnt say (( oops sorry about that misclick )) and there was no way of my char knowing that noone had been charmed. They were certainly acting charmed. I stand by my statement that I was the ONLY one that played that the raight way unless everyone had secretly rolled against charm and failed. Ozy RP'ed his char huh. Sorry I didnt know he was trying to become evil. 16

Storm, that was a misclick when I killed that nymph back then and I said OOC that it was a misclick but it was taken as IC and I was forced to play it out and then DM teleported to some dungeon somewhere as punishment.
Oh excuse me I was killed wanst I. Either way thats another situation where the DM ignored me and I was forced to RP the way the DM wanted me to not the way I wanted to. And noone raised me cause I left if I remember correctly cause I was kinda pissed that a stated misclick was turned into a death for me causing me to lose very hard earned xp because I misccliocked and said I misclicked. BUt I went along with the RP and had no choice but to leave them there like that cause I was being chased down by huge amounts of bears for an OOC misclick. Let me reapeast that. AN OOC MISCLICK THAT WAS IGNORED BY THE DM RUNNING THE EVENT. Just like my actions were ignored again at the DM's whim. At least you were able to change the situation to match what was accuring instead of ignoring it totally then killing me later with some DM crap 17

I'm sorry if I remember Ozy as someone who was nice and liked Sue and let her do her scouting thing. I was a bit down that the player didnt seem to remember me at all sure and that what contributed to my being a bit upset at him when I was annoying him back. But what happened Sue nor I deserved in the least.
I never drew one thing towards the party. Anything that walked over did so because it saw Remier. Not me. Sue knows her job and does it well and if she wanted to draw stuff to the party they would either die or run away cause I know what I am doing. 18

I would really like to know why my bolts were totally ignored. I know why they were by the players, I DARED to talk back to god.
But why did the DM ignore it? It didnt fit into thier linear plans is why. Those of you who have ever DM'd know that some player sometime is going to do something or make some descision that messes up the DM's linear plans. Layo is a changing and dynamic world is one reason I like to play on it and if the DM's cant handle an unexpected descision and thier only way of handeling it is to ignore it cause they have no idea how to think on the fly and change the plans as needed should just give up. If I wanted to go from point a to b over and over again with no change I'd go play Diablo2 or WoW. My char is going to make descisiopns you havent planned on or thought of and guess what. The DM is here for the players not the other way around. You dont ignore someones rp cause it doesnt fit in with your plans. You react to it and do the best you can with it. What Sue did was totally appropriate for the situation and it was totally ignored becase the DM's plans would have had to change some. You should have kepot on ignoring me and not killed me cause my bolts did zero damage to a DM controlled invulnerable npc anyway who then used the DM ability to see hidden chars and a DM spell to take my life. Learn to roll with the RP or stop trying to DM. I mean seriously. How many of you would accept it that the DM in some PnP game completely ignored your actions even though they were perfectly acceptable according to the situation. I'm not talking about someone doing something stupid and totally out of char like say, dropping a party member into a pool of water and making some comment about 'Lets see if they float or sink' ie calling them a piece of Sh*t. No nothing as completely OOC and spiteful like that. Just reacting to what the rp situation was in an appropriate manner and then getting ignored two or three times. You wouldnt like it very much and if you didnt want to make a fuss you would do just what I did. Sit behind some rock hidden with your mouth shut like the RP hogs want you to do anyway. Then after the rediculous RP is over the npc just walks up and you die instantly, no save, no dice needed. Instant DM death. You would probably walk out and never play with that terrible DM again. 19

I read over this again and you all keep saying I died because of my own stupidity. I will say it again, I died because of the rest of the party's stupidity in completely giving themselves over to someone who was killing and charming party members.
As far as that little attachment, yeah I was pretty upset that my party members just left me for dead in some dangerous dungeon when they are supposed to be comrades. I guess rp is a little too much like real life where everyones main comcern is themselves and how much power they can aquire to become the center of attention like thier hero Ozy. 20
General Discussion / RE: Thats just too bad« on: September 17, 2005, 02:59:00 PM »
I wasnt going to bring it in the open but since you all want to lets start from the beginning. I knew nothing of the quest I was on cause Ive been away a while so I had to sit for thirty minutes at least while the people that knew what was going on did thier rp. I was fine with it. I had nothing to contribute so I sat there with my mouth shut waiting. When we finally got moving and into the wilderness I thought "Cool, now I can rp and have fun too' Ozy snapped at me telling me to stop doing what I was doing which was simply scouting, just like Sue has always done and telling the party what was ahead. Ozy arrogantly said that he knew where everything was on the continent. I stated in char that he had his fun now why I cant I have mine. Asked really and then was told to shut up and go away cause I was useless by Ozy. That upset me a little cause it was "ME" asking why cant I have my fun I just decided to keep it in char. I havent rp'ed in ages cause Ive been very, very ill and now that a part of my therapy is over I feel alot better and want to have fun so I took what was said personally. However, I didnt take anything ooc, I kept to my char and gave Ozy a hard time in char totally appropriate to my char. After a while I gave up on it satisfied that I had aggerevated Ozy enough to match how he made me feel adn went on about my business of scouting for my own purposes just because I like to do more than click and wait till something dies and click again. Layo is after all an rp enviroment, or has it changed to an rp enviroment for the select few? Seems to me like thats what Ozy thinks. So anyway, nothing of interest until we reach the nymph. Ah yes the nymph, the nymph that attempted to charm a party member, failed, then proceeded to cast a dispel magic on him and try to charm him again, only to fail and cast another dispel magic on him. And I quote ....the one where she on her own free will shot what was probably the main baddie in the back 2 possibly 3 times The main baddie... and yes my own free will. What I'm supposed to wait until the god Ozy says its ok for me to RP cause his mouth wants a break? Yeah like thats gonna happen. Sue popped out from hiding and told the nymph one more spell and you get a bolt in the back. Naturally I was ignored by all the gods of RP standing around and ended up having to shoot her in the back cause she cast a third spell on a party member then killed one with her aura and kept trying to charm the party member. Meanwhile as far as Sue was concerend the entire party was charmed by this nymph because NOONE was doing anything but commenting on how hot she was so when the next spell came she got another bolt in the back and both bolts were totally ignored in the rp everyoine just kept commenting on how hot she was and the ones playing females just rolled thier eyes and commented on the antics of men but NOONE tried to stop this nymph from charming and then disappearing with a party member and after she came back everyone just plainly accepted the fact that she said he was happy and even gave what seemed like RP clues as to the fact he was in a charmed stupor by saying things like 'If you find him he wouldnt care and wouldnt even notice you' etc... As far as I am concered I am the ONLY one who RP'ed that scene correctly and after I was killed not by a spell but by a DM power, who I would like to say did as always and just walked up to me even though I was hidden from the entire party, I was put into the water by Ozy and everyone just watched him do it and left me there to rot in some deep dungeon which I am sure is TOTALLY out of char for at least half the group. I wasnt even mentioned after that just left there by a group of people who should ALL have thier alignments pushed quite a bit towards evil and thier ability to resist charm drastically reduced to match thier RP. I could go on about Ozy and by how Ive heard what a jerk he is and how the DM's just ignore that he is but I wont. What was done to Sue was out of char and plain mean to "ME" not to her. Can I help it if the rest of you just accept that any DM controlled npc is perfectly harmless even while standing there killing party members right in front of each of you?
