Just for Fun / Re: Big bangs? New dimensions? Destruction of the entire planet?« on: November 01, 2006, 03:18:58 PM »
hmm, darkstorme's comment got me thinking. Maybe the oft rumoured black hole lying at the centre of the solar system is one of those previously mentioned civilisations that managed to press the big red button when they werent supposed to.
"And now, ladies and gentlemen, the planet of Oopiwoopi will finally be able to travel instantly around the universe! Unrivaled power now lies in our ha - " "Hey, what does this button do?" "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM!" 2

General Discussion / RE: Anger...someone needs to set them straight« on: June 12, 2005, 06:37:00 AM »I grew sick of his vitriol even before i got to the second page. IMO, most of the points he had a gripe with I consider to be Layonara's secret strengths. Small close knit community? tightly focused scenery and world? twenty three GM's? Bring it on! I have been here only a matter of weeks and I have already been deeply impressed with the amount of detail and effort that has already been poured into this world by it's GM's and players alike, as well as the spirit of good will by all that I have met. Long may it continue. 8

Wild Surge Inn / A Note of Warning« on: June 13, 2005, 07:42:00 AM »
A Dirty torn piece of parchment, hastily stuck to various doors around Mistone:
"It has come to our attention that there is a secret movement gathering to oppose the increasing use of Necromantic magic. This cobbled-together group of ruffians is gathering popularity and support amongst the "regular" patrons of many rural communities. Let us make one thing abundantly clear. Those those skills lie in the fields of Necromancy, Divination and Negative planar manipulation will not tolerate any forces that may attempt to hinder or interfere with our research. We will consider all unauthorised interference to be a hostile attack - and we will retaliate in the strongest possible fashion. Those that value the safety of not only their own lives, but the lives and souls of friends, relatives, ancestors, and future descendants, would pay heed to our warning: that any member of the so-called "grey circle" is in direct opposition to our beliefs and will be dealt with accordingly." *signed in an elaborate script* members, allies, and students of the Necromantic arts 14

Your eyes smile less than you fangs do your heart beat, underneath your breast tick tock, times up. You know I love a contest. But how can I win when you change the rules. The first kiss is the worst. Your perfume lingers on my lips, stained with blood. And when you bit How would I know you would take my soul? It sucked me in but it made you go. 15

We laughed, the scorners, at your kneeled hope for life. Yet, I died that day instead. I was muscle, fury. Blood smells like copper even when it is innocent. Your eyes, Replaced my own. When the light went out I didnt realise it was mine. We ripped you from this world and made your strength immortal. Your eyes, replaced my own. 16

Apologies if these are bad or inappropriate for Layonara.
"Reflection" Boy in the mirror, accussing eyes, piercing like unspoken words his reach, unable to shatter his prison. Youthful footsteps at school ran from fear, and stole your trust away. And so: the golem; cold statue watches you flail helplessly against the glassy walls of your silent world. But who is reflecting who? Mother, I never meant to kill him. 17

Dream Lady, who are you And what lands do we walk through? I know you and you know me A friendship that can never be Dream Lady, haunts my sleep Into my thoughts she creeps A tender kiss is shared inside Open my eyes and the magic dies Dream Lady, are you real? And do you share this pain I feel? Did you come to be with me Or are you made by my insanity Dream Lady, leaving me Returning to the nighttime sea Morning sun opens my eyes But in my mind she always lies. 18
Just for Fun / Help! i made my daugher a nerd!« on: June 09, 2005, 11:59:00 PM »
So here i am, asking my 4 yrd old daughter what game she wants to play on the pc - her barbie, bob the builder, or the blues clues game, and she replies:
"no, daddy, I want the play the scary game where you shoot the skeletons with the lightning!" The game in question was diablo 2. That was actually 2 years ago (she is six now), and she got quite skilled at it (she loved pressing the hotkeys for the potions for me- and it was quite handy in a hectic fight). It became a bit of an injoke that we wouldnt tell mummy that we have been playing the"scary game". Nowadays she loves Sims2, so I dont have her mother warning me that i am going to turn her into a serial killer or something (LOL), but that memory always gives me a smile. 19
General Discussion / A farewell and a return« on: June 01, 2005, 02:19:00 PM »
Just would like to take this opportunity to say hello to all. This long time lurker is now a Layonara resident. Looking forward to being a part of this ever growing community.
I have been a regular player of (dare I say it?) both World of Warcraft and Everquest 2 from early on in their release, and I have recently been quite dissillusioned with both. I came to the conclusion that my dissatisfaction with these games was the total lack of In game Dynamics which lead to a quite boring existance of quest, walk, and reward.these worlds are quite static (apart from the odd random event) and there is little sense of your character having any significant impact onto the world. In Layonara, it is this Dynamic and fluid status of the world which makes it such an attractive place to Roleplay IMO. The possibility of actually influencing both world events and the people which inhabit them is a very satisfying feeling and is something that Blizzard and Sony can simply not compete with. So, I suppose I simply want to wish All GM's good luck to the future, and I am gladly giving my subscription money to Layonara instead of the others. It's not often that the "little guys" can beat the big boys, but in my MMORG experience this place offers a True RP home. Long may it continue.
