Like the air around me, Ki is everywhere. It can not be seen, or touched. Everything I know to be real is either created by Ki or created because of Ki. Ki itself is the energy that surrounds me.
These are the words that Krys told me when we spoke of the feeling that I felt. The feeling itself was me realising that I was one with energy, one with Ki. The fire within the room was my window to feeling this Ki, allowing myself to think of nothing, and allow it to touch me.
Ki is something that I can try to use to better myself, to use the energy to allow my mind to have complete control of my body.
I find this really difficult to put into words, but I believe that in time it will make better sense, and I may be able to better explain it.

I spoke to Christine, and explained how I feel, I tried to explain Ki, and what effect it was having on me, how the fire in the monastery became a window and how I felt in the monastery.
At first it was very difficult to explain, but as we talked she helped me understand that the fire in the monastery was a window into myself, and that the real fire must be within me.

In meditation of late, I have been concentrating on a single flame, concentrating on trying to make my mind a blaze, a silent beautiful dance of burning light.

I seek guidance though, I have come far. I am starting learn of myself, already I feel more powerful, I feel stronger but I cant help but think that this is just the start.

I will try to seek advice from the monastery, I need discipline in my path as I have recently found out, I need to know people who know themselves so that I can truly know myself, about who I am, and what I  must do for my journey.

5
I have met Krys again, and I have sought his advice to these strange feelings that I feel, I am so confused, what is this feeling of unknowing when I am near fire, why do I feel so different.
I asked Krys why I felt odd, like I was standing yet I could see myself, I was feeling the heat, yet I was not hot, why I could watch a single flame flicker, and yet I could see everything around me burn.
Krys was knowing of the same… energy that I felt.
He said that it seemed that fire was a door to something he called no-mind. Where I was completely at peace, thought of nothing, that I was empty

Apparently this is a feeling to aim for, to be free of any burdens that may weigh me down, to truly on think of the moment and nothing else.

Then Krys went on to explain the forces around me called Ki

I will better explain this to my journal when I can put it into words…

YES! I have

Blimey!

Went to go and make a fire enhancement 1,

so got the opals,
got the angelica leaf,
got the flour,
got the rod

forgot the enchanting gem... ran all the way back to Pranzis to get that,

went back to the tower with 2 enchanting gems, then realised i had no enchanting oil,

so again ran all the way back to Pranzis to get the oil

crafted it with a little help from a few spells

and failed miserably.... just my luck

steverimmer - 3/9/2006  2:56 PM  I think as well that charisma scores should play a part as well. For instance if you have an evil character...a cleric perhaps, with a charisma score that is above average. He's not likely to be publically rude, offensive or off putting to other player characters.  In fact he's probably going to be exactly the opposite.   However...a person with very low charisma may exhibit these traits even if he's not evil :)
As my char has a the charisma of 24 does that mean she'll be like the typical english gentleman but female... :P

I think its actually against the rules to openly worship an evil god according the handbooks laws of layonara isn't it?

A little discriminative i think this is,

My character worships what could be considered an evil god,

But she does it for a purpose, a purpose which is not evil.

I think that being evil and worshiping an "evil" god are two different things, it may be the start of going down a path to being evil, but saying you can not worship your diety as somebody else worships theres is a bit harsh.

But, basically speaking .. I have found my characters have developed because of in-game RP and not necessarily followed the path I had in mind for them.  I also believe this is a much more realistic development path and more interesting.

Before i started playing Eamane, i didn't believe that this could be done, you could force your character to go down a certain path,

But as i have played i have realised, that going with the flow is so much better and rewarding.

I had planned for my character to take just one path, but she has split into two through RP.

my character is not evil, not nasty.. she may turn it by following her new choice,

But not RP'ing against her and just assuming via information on the forum is not only frustrating, in my opinion it destroys what you have built up with your character,

As Zero said, one person says something there not supposed to know "Meta-Gaming" then other people catch wind and so on, then your char is portrayed in a completely different light to the one you have been RP'ing too.

that would just be out of order in my opinion, considering the amount of time you spend RP'ing your character.

I was looking at most of the people who post on Layo, and almost ALL have multiple characters. I am torn between "fun" characters and characters I like to play. I don't know which one to put more time into growing...I like both it's just hard to decide which to play.

Anyoen else have this problem?

Been there...

I had a half Orc,
Then i made a Sorcerer,
then i made a fighter,

all of these were active at the same time, yet i found that if you give each one a chance you'll find one that best suits, my style is smash and run.
I always played a half orc at first but could never really have an in depth conversation, so i created the sorc.

It turns out that for me the sorc is a much deeper and more involving character, and in the end i couldn't justify having the other two chars.

The poor fighter didn't get palyed much at all really, but thats the way it goes.

I found a character i really enjoy and have decided to concentrate on that one character. not everyone is the same.

Education
I awoke in Krandor and headed to Hlint to meet with Moonlight, On the way there I received a letter from a friend called Zanirth. She had written that she feared that I was falling into darkness and that she could not stand idly by and watch me do it; she said that she still sees me as a friend.  Prior to receiving the letter, correspondence with Zanirth has been on a slow decline, when I see her she only wishes to talk about my path, and how bad it is, the fact that it will only lead to evil and I will end up killing thousands in the name of a evil god, not being able to control my will.  Zanirth has mentioned many times the difference between good and evil, that some actions are taken in good faith and others are just purely evil.  I do not see it that way, for one person may view an action as being good, where as another would view the same action as being evil. How can you define an action if two people have different views with the same outcome?  There was an Ox near us, and I presented what I thought to her in a way that I thought was most understandable,  If I was starving and needed food to live, there is nothing around for miles, I have no money nor is anyone around to assist me with getting food. I am soon to die unless I get nourishment, so I pull out a knife and kill the Ox…  Am I good to do this because I am starving and need food to survive?  Am I evil doing this because I have taken a life for my own ends?  One person might see it as a way for me to survive, therefore my actions are not evil, but if a druid, or follower of nature saw me do this I am sure they would see me as evil for killing the ox.  It is all about the perception of what one thinks as to whether you are classed good or evil.  When I finaly got into Hlint I sat down and talked to my love, I enjoy her company more and more, I can not be without her.  She offered herself to me; she said that she would like to have us bonded in a way like marriage, but a more personal affair, a branding that is permanent and maybe a new name to symbolize our change.  It is a wondrous idea, and I have started to think heavily about this. We have plans and will get this done as soon as possible, I know she is mine, and she knows I am hers. We just want a reminder so that we know in dark times.  Then Ozymandias came over and started humming as he usually does.  He started talking in his usual way, in riddles or his bardic tales. Yet this time it was different he presented himself differently. I felt slightly concerned.   He started talking of the “pale” the searching and becoming of zombie like form.   He wanted to talk privately, Moonlight came, I’m glad she did.   It seems Ozymandias had received letters from four people, all talking about us. One person we managed to find out was Zanirth.  This has made me think, why is she so persistent, surely a friend would let me achieve my goals and not keep interfering. Although Ozymandias did say that she was most distraught and that he wouldn’t usually bother with helping her, but the fact that she hates him to the bone and swallows her pride to ask him for help, made him sit up and take notice.  He wants us, that’s Moonlight and I to make the right decision, an informed decision on what paths we are taking. He mentioned a saying he has “Incompetent good actions only bring tragedy”.   Yet I had to ask why he felt he had to talk to us, why did he feel he needed to waist his effort on us. He said that he liked the pair of us, which I will take as a complement.  He went on to explain the gods, the pale, the journey,  But the one thing that sticks out in my mind is that he told me that the deaths of the recent palemasters was by his doing. They trusted him, and became corrupt, and random. He killed them as he could not stand by and watch as his supposed evil actions were taking place.  He killed them?!  He wanted to make an informed choice of who I follow…  He explained many gods, from Prytechon, Corath, Lucinder and all sorts.  He gave me the book that Akinan Lightbane used to record his becoming of the pale, the pages are not of paper, they are of flesh. The age of the book is great and the slime is everywhere, I will read it with great interest.   I have been thinking long and hard, I have talked to my sweet, listened to what Ozymandias has been saying and not forgetting what Zanirth has been trying to do.  In the end there is only one decision,   I must be true to myself,   I worship undeath, I will seek guidance from Corath.  It is in death where my path travels.

General Discussion / RE: What D&D Character are you?

Well now....

Apparently i'm a Chaotic Good Elf Barbarian...

hmm...

But LOL look how much of a Barb i am!!

Alignment:
Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.

Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Barbarians live outside the 'civilized' They have tribal goverments, and are often nomads. What they may lack in refinement is balanced by there strength of individual character and ability to survive.

Secondary Class:

Chanda   I finally met the lady who is known as Chanda, although she was referred to as “High Priestess”   Me and moonlight were at home, doing what we usually do at home, we decided to go out for a trip to Haven to get some iron, Moonlight needs it for arrow making, as well as shields which she is getting really good at I might add.  We left our house and headed past the crypts, or our neighbors, as we went past and were just about to set foot on the path I caught sight of a lady wearing black, a black hood followed by a man, also in black.  Though the lady had an aura of mystery around her, she was not too talkative, nor was she forth coming with who she was, although she seemed important by Moonlights reaction.  Moonlight referred to her as “High Priestess”, high priestess I thought to myself, who’s that, then I looked at the man just standing there, I could feel his eyes examining me. I did not hold back though, so I greeted him and said “Hello” I got very little back.   I examined the mystery man, the mystery woman and then Moonlight, I had an idea of who it was, but surely not, not right where I live. I turned to Moonlight and then looked at the mystery woman and asked a simple question “Who are you?” she simply looked at me and asked me to search my mind, and that I would already know the answer, not to be rude I replied “I wouldn’t ask if I knew miss” Moonlight stepped in and told me that the woman in front of me was the high priestess, other wise known as Chanda.  Chanda!   The one who I had been looking for so much time had found me, what a surprise this is, and I have started off on such a bad foot,  How should I refer to her? Do I follow the reactions of those around her?  I decided that I would simply call her Chanda, as I have no faith, so I would not be hypocritical, I would refer to her as though she was an acquaintance, and I would not lie to myself.  The man still hadn’t introduced himself, but after some time he was referred to as Daralith, I had heard this name in passing a friend called Sabrissia, she had mentioned that he also studied the dark arts. I had asked him if he knew Sabrissia and he said that he did, “she is a pleasant person though lost” I had to agree, she has no confidence.  I asked Chanda, I said that I must talk to her.  Chanda simply agreed, and said yes, soon we will have to speak.   Has she heard of me before?  Never the less Daralith needed ashes, and so we all went to obtain them. I was in awe at her power, she was mighty beyond my wildest thoughts. I mentioned to her while in the crypts that I envied her power; she simply nodded and referred to them as gifts from the dark lord.  Corath, the dark lord, the path that my sweet wishes to follow, I will not let her be harmed maybe I should investigate this further and find what I must do to follow such a path; I would discuss this with Chanda when we talked.  We had been successful, all except Daralith who lay in a beaten mess on the floor covered in his own blood, beaten by the power that roams in the crypts. What I saw was inspirational and has influenced me into thinking heavily about the joining of the faith.  Chanda had called on the power of the “Dark Lord” and I saw the body rise, Daralith was returned from his slain mess, back to life. Chanda truly wields great power.  We eventually decided that it was a good time to talk; I offered a room in my house, the necromantic room seemed fitting, so I led them through.  I explained my problem, and who I seek. I explained my predicament and what I wish to gain.  Chanda was very forth coming with her information, I want guidance, it seems after her explanation many find the power too consuming and simply combust with the own power. I asked Chanda about becoming of the faith.   I believe I can become of the faith, and that I will have her help on my journey, but at a price that is colossal, she wants part of my soul.  I explained to her that my soul is not my own, but rather it was Moonlights and she would have to decide, for I hold hers.  Moonlight and I discussed it for quite some time,   Our souls are entwined, Moonlights into mine, if I lose a piece then so does she, I said to Moonlight that I could not ask her to do this, it is simply too great.  She offered it to me, we are one.  I have made certain that Moonlight is sure, when I see Chanda, I will advise her of our decision.

Just for Fun / RE: My First Week On Layo
« on: February 28, 2006, 12:26:54 AM »
My first week of layo was just intense,

I hadn't played any online RPG's before i came to layo.

I found everybody real friendly, the storyline excellent and everybody supportive. I could get right into character which i had never really experianced before, and have been hooked ever since.

there was once though, that i left to go and play another RPG (EQ2) but that didn't even scratch the surface of this place so i came running back and started fresh.

Gotta hand it to everyone, it's a wicked place to play, and thats the reason i'm still hooked now.

Watching I awoke at our house; battered and bruised I got up to face the day’s delights.  I went to Hlint, and met Moonlight, she was talking to a giant called Pig, he’s a little nice person and has helped us many times. He’s strong and firm. I also met Sabrissia, she is a wizard, a nice person her ability’s are strong yet she does not believe in herself.   I have been down this path, and it almost led to my destruction. I will try to convince Sabrissia that her mindset should be very much different.   Moonlight helped through these troubles times in the past, at the beginning.  I also met Zanirith who for some reason seemed to be ignoring, or not acknowledging my presence, I hope it is just a feeling. She is a good friend.  Arandwen came past briefly and I said hello, she didn’t stay to talk much though.  Pig had said in a round about way that he wanted to go to Storans crypts. This is a dangerous place indeed. This place is home to all sorts of undead creatures.  Maybe one day, I will have such power to control such beings,   In the crypts there are shadows that fight, skeletons that walk, zombies that wield weapons and much more.  Moonlight stopped our talking, and mentioned another creature, she mentioned Bodaks.  I have read of these before, these creatures can kill with a stare.   Moonlight is not silly, she said that she refuses to go anywhere near the place unless a plan can be developed for taking care of the Bodak.  I looked at Moonlight and asked in drow what she suggested, but her mind was on other matters. Shortly after, the group left the topic of Bodaks and just wanted to take the place by storm. Moonlight shouted and stormed off, I followed her; I have never seen Moonlight react like this, I was concerned.  She told me that these bodaks only have to look at you, to kill.   I told her that I knew, and that I would not go if she did not want too. We didn’t. We discussed my search, and that the future may hold much more dangerous foe other then Bodak’s and is this a path which she truly wants to follow.  She looked at me with a slight smile, she said that she wanted to follow the path more then anything; she said that she wanted me to complete my journey.  Moonlight is seeking council from Corath, She must see Corath as a release for her passion. I believe her passion if heading toward anarchy. Her blade swings with fury, and the look for compassion in her eyes fades.  I will follow Moonlight, I may or may not see what Corath has to offer, but I will not let any harm come to Moonlight.
