Quick question about XP...

I know that it's probably been asked but when I first started playing I heard from someone that if you are invited into a party by a higher level character that you will only gain the xp they gain due to their level.  And if you invited them then you will recieve the normal xp for your level and they will receive what you receive.  Is this true?  If it is I would always want to invite instead of being invited in order to receive the right amount of xp.

  As far as I know, that's not true. You always gain the XP you should for your level, period. Else I suppose I'd be levels higher right now.

It's not true. It is not based on party leader and it is not based on invitations. It is a calculation that takes into account many factors including level differences of the party members, ECL of the character, and current character level. All play a roll in the calculation and you always receive the "right" amount of xp.
