I would like to see the rune or another rune that would cancel all temporary spell effects without resting.  That way when you go into town you can just use it and switch to normal clothes instead of walking into town barkskinned with a bunch of glowing lights around you.

I agree with Rawkwin.  As long as the rune cant be targeted on others hehe, then it would become a powerful weapon.

If you want to dispel invisibility, whack something. If you plan on running into town five minutes after a battle, get some dispels ready. If it's been 10 minutes since you last rested, rest again. There... problem solved.

Pssst!  ZV!  Not everyone can cast Dispell.   ;)

Besides, it's very unmage-like to "whack something".  It's way cooler for Mr. SuperMage to simply discard his magical protections than to beat his knuckles raw by banging on doors.

Ahem! For those non-mage types, you can do this. Unless of course a 15 second rest period where you're forced to sit still and do nothing is too much hassle... not saying this is a bad idea, just saying it's not really needed.

yeah, there are ways to get rid of it.  The point in it is that its often bad RP to doze off in the middle of the road, while I think its also rather bad RP to walk around with barkskin.  And there are also sometimes when you dont want to rest yet.

We're well aware of the solutions that are already in place.  This item would be good for when those solutions are inappropriate.  Theres another similar thread here somewhere that detailed all of these reasons.

Edit: heres the other thread:

You'd be surprised how many times I've been in situations
where there is nothing else to whack but PCs and not
wanted/able to rest.

I do think we're very spoiled here. Everything has a system to it. There's no haste, but we can run at lightning speed between towns on West. We have a near flawless bank system. The oxen are cheap, and -very- effective. There is no Xp penalty for being in a party, regardless of levels involved.

But it seems through all the systems we're getting institutionalized. It seems that something as simple as removing your own spells has become a complicated affair that -requires- a script to even be considered possible. I think everyone should just remember the -old- days of NWN, where we didn't have any neat scripts to make things smoother and more playable, and just use our imaginations and think up new ways to do things, without making Orth have to bust his arse to write up another script.

That's my two cents, I guess.

Kimiko what you said goes for most new ideas.
It's just what it is, an idea. I'm pointing
out why I think it is good. Not why it "must"
    be implemented.

All new things take work, I'm aware of that.
Kimiko, aside from increasing the workload and
players being lazy, do you have any reasons
why it should not be implemented?

Added in next update a tool to remove all buffs without resting.  Also added a tool to remove invisibility from yourself too.

Both for sale at magic merchants.
