A long string of deaths

A) The death of Quin Cromwell -

Atop the sword rust mountains, Quin Cromwell finds himself oddly drawn to the lake there. It has been this way for days, all of his travels eventually bringing him here. This is where he had met her, but something more ....

He recognized for the first time the small creek at the foot of the mountains ... grass grown over large rocks, no, not rocks, but bricks. The grown over foundation of a home. He walked slowly toward it, and knew immediatly where he was. He was home. How had he never noticed before? He sat by the creek, watching the water stream across. No sunlight shown down, all was misted over this morning.

He felt a cool breeze behind him. It was not right. It chilled him to the bone. It was wrong here, so wrong, infinatly wrong. He looked behind him, and a black cloaked figure stood. It was the man from his dreams long ago, but now was the first time he realized that the man was not a man.

"Cromwell" the voice hissed beneath the cowl of her robe.

"Who are you?"

"You are the spawn of my pet and his misguided love. For 2 decades have I sought to destroy you, to reclaim what is mine."

"Pet .... you ... are Lyssa's mother?"

"Oh yesss Quin. You are a perceptive one. Your father taught you well."

"I don't remember my father, nor my mother. All that ever was, was Lyssa, and the fort."

"Oh how you lie Quin! Do you really think that you will believe that?"

"It is true."

"Oh I know you remember everything that happened back then."

Quin drew his blade. The calm that had overtaken him recently, now gone. All that was there, was wrath, anger, hatred. "What do you wish?"

"I wish to destroy you son of Cromwell. And that is what I shall do!"

Quin and the succubus fought in the sword rust. Quin was able to stand against the beast, untaken by her unearthly beauty or charms. He had protection against such things. He had strength against such things. Claw agianst blade was the mood of the battle until the end, and a claw made it's way through Quin's chest. His sword fell to the ground, and his body soon after. The last words from his lips - "Toran, protect her.

B) The death of Ashley Windsong -

It was a cold Leilon day, just as things began. He had stayed away from this city for so long, that he could scarce belive how it had changed. Eager to begin his life again, eager for his work in Derrick's plan, Ashley walked the streets whistling ...

And then he saw her, Eliana, the woman he had loved in his youth. The woman he had given everything to ... he went to her, wanted her.

Ashley Windsong was taken by a succubus, and would never again be seen in this world. Perhaps somewhere, someone would remember him, or atleast a silver band given to a friend for safe-keeping would leave record of him.

C) The death of Khalid Russale.

Khalid Russale laid in his inn room, Lylia, his familiar at his side. Tears were in the small dragons eyes.

"But why Master Khalid? Why do I have to go."

"It is your time Lylia. I found you here for a reason, and that reason was to guide you away."

"I don't want to go."

"You must. There is another world out there for you."

"But master ..."

"I am using the last of me to send you to another world, a world where you will be needed."

"Yes ... master ..."

"Go now ..."

"Can I ... Can I call you father?"

"Yes dear, but you must go."

"I won't ever forget you, Father."

D) The death of Barravelve Vlosstrea -

"So, you have finally caught up with me."

"Yes. I have been waiting for this moment for a long time."

"I thought you would. There is a reason I let you live human girl."

The woman with scars like tearmarks hissed in his ear "So you could see me degraded to this!?"

"No you idiot, so you would release me."

"What?"

"But you don't have the heart, do you human girl?"

With a flick of her wrist, a dagger sliced through the throat of Barravelve Vlosstrea. He died as the rest of his family did. In dishonor.

//Okay, here's the deal. I'm not playing here anymore, and I want my characters deleted, but please do these things for me.

A) Somehow work out Ashley's possion of 120 Leilon into Derrick's (Cappyra's) plan for it. It was his money, and his idea, and I was just there to help. If you can't do that, then give him his money back.

B) I want you to transfer ownership of 145 Krandor, all of the furniture, and the bank account of Quin Cromwell to Mirren Darksol.

C) Orth, if you could drop that wedding band down the Mirr? Just symbolic really ... but I would appreciate it.

D) Give my appologies to all of the people on the Drow Alliance quest that looked forward to me helping. Same for the Grey Circle.

E) Keep this place up as such a great server. I loved every minute I played here, but now I must go, and that is that.

Please delete my characters after these things are done. I won't be coming back, and if I do I will use other characters. I would like to keep my forum account intact so that maybe I can still give something to this community that has given me so much.

Thanks everyone, I wish you all well. Goodbye, and I am sorry.

Wow, I'm speachless. It's been both a pleasure and an honor to play with you Zhofe and I hope you use all that extra time you'll have to it's fullest extent. I hope you return if you can one day and wish you well...

Zhofe we haven’t met very often in game, twice I think, but I enjoyed the majority of what you’ve written a lot, it kept me in touch with the world and what was going on in other time zones.

Below is something I wrote almost 1 year ago when I too felt I had to leave another PW because I just couldn’t handle it anymore. It summarizes very well how I felt and I often read it to not fall into the same trap and to remind myself that I’m in Layo to have fun and share this with others. Maybe it helps.

And to answer the question below, I did find peace again.

Regret
I suffer
In my head
The buffer
Depleted

Ache
It is night
Awake
No light
Lost

Chilled to the bone
It won’t leave me alone
Unchain, release
Can I live again in peace
In the end

zhofe, i'm not sure why your leaving, and frankly it isn't any of my bussiness so i'm not going to ask, but as i told eight when she asked to have his characters deleated, you may wish to reconsider that part, you don't know what the future may bring, who knows somepart down the line you may wish to play again, i know everyone here would love to see you come back

It's always sad to see people go and I know I have thought a few or more times that I probably wouldn't come back when I went away and if it was wise to just delete my characters. But luckily I never said the few words it would take and I'm glad of that cause I always returned to the place I call home. This place.

Take care friend.  Best of luck in all of your ventures in life, and who knows, maybe we'll see Quin back from the dead.  Lord knows we've seen stranger in Hlint  ;)

Regards,
Steve

Whether you delete them or not, I would still request that the house and Quin's funds be put in Mirren's name, and that that wedding ring be dropped on her sometime. It was already paid for, and I would like to think of it as a last gesture ...

Thank you everyone.

sorry to see you go. I learned alot from your character the few times I was with you and really enjoyed your company. You always seemed to brighten my otherwise uneventful day. You always played well and  respected  others, and I always felt there was nothing I couldent tell you. Thank you for the few moments of happiness that you brought me,
 Mara..

In the name of all that is holy, unholy, blessed, cursed, vorpal, or has a +5 enchantment or greater, why do you leave so much good as dust in the wind?
Needless to say, they all will be severely missed. I can imagine that Mirren will spend a great much time mourning Quin's death (which, by the way, you did predict). Please, do return, and soon. Your absence from this server will leave the whole place very different.

*laughs at psiokinetic* I may be back ... I don't know. I have reasons and not all of them am I willing to share. Some were RL issues, some were mechanics issues, some were character issues. The big ones however, were more or less RL, in one way or another.

I hate to say this, but as wonderfull as Layo is, as much as I loved every day I played here, and as much as I may miss this place, my real life is more important. Now, maybe I could have dealt with it differently ... but I think if I had stayed and changed, this place would no longer have been fun for me, atleast not so soon ...

Wow ... that was all somewhat cryptic ... anyway, it isn't like I was the glue holding Layo together, there are plenty of wonderful people here who make this place great, and alot of people that, without whom, I would have quit within a few weeks of playing here. If you liked the way Quin was, and you knew him before level 9, chances are YOU helped make him that way. Ash and Khalid were very static, but fun in their own right. Barravelve outlived his purpose when the first drow attack hit.

Anyway, thank you all again ...

Sucky.  Well, a major part of Layo for me is disappearing, but I can't say I don't understand.  Not that I know details, but the general gist of things is something I understand.  I've seen a lot of friends come and go off these games, and all I can say is have fun; if not here, then somewhere.  Or at least try.

    *hugs*

Cattery, for the time you were here, it was fun when I had a chance to RP with you, and you were always a good OOC friend.

It's a shame Quin had to go down like he did, but the alternative was worse ...

Ash, Khalid and Barravelve ... they had to go so I could leave without having to think about having to come back ... poor fellows ...
