Camping...What is it?

I was browsing through the forums and I came upon an article about camping.  It said why we shouldn't do it and all, but it didn't say what it was.  Now my curiosity is aroused.  What is camping?

Camping is gathering the resources or killing the creatures in an area, and then waiting there for them to respawn so you can do it again.  It's a very metagamey way to gain from the system.
