An interesting request...

So I go to install NWN today...and to my surprise find that Disc no. 2 is cracked. So I was wondering if there any way I can get ahold of Install Disc No.2 Without having to go out and buy the game again. I own all three parts of NWN, I just don't have a disc no. 2.
Is there a way to send a CD Image to me? Is that legal to do? Can someone do it anyway?
I really want to get back into the game, but not being able to Install NWN is really hindering my ability to play Layo
Anywho, any help or suggestions would be great,
Steve

Bioware really should have a policy where you can send in the pieces of the CD and they'll send you a new one for 5 bucks S&H or something. A lot of good game companys have had policys like this. I have a feeling that bioware doesnt have a policy like this, but it would be worth looking into.

Well. Im pretty sure theres no way of doing this a legal way. Ofcourse i cant comment of the laws for copying cd's in your country. But here it isnt legal to copy unless for own usage. (safety copying your CD's etc) And even there im not certain since those laws change every year or so here.
"Can someone do it anyway" Shame on you.
My advice is, get a new CD, make safety copies before you break them.

Everybody knows it so I am going to say it
There are no legal ways to do it, but you can find everything on the internet and it will be really easy if you use a couple of programs.

Ya know, copying CD's is like watching "Boy Meets World". Everyone does it. No one talks about it.
Anywho, I'm not saying anyone SHOULD...but if I happened to get an PM on here describing how I could get a copy, I would certainly read it out of interest. *Cough*

yeah, you already paid for a private use liscence of the game.
Aquiring another copy of the data would be legal.

Right...it's the license you own, not the software. Fair Use clauses in copyright law give the consumer the right to make backup copies of the media's content (i.e. software) for personal use. That's the key, of course, because it doesn't give you the right to just make copies to give away or sell. Making another copy for an existing license holder would seem to fit into the "spirit" if not the "letter" of the law.
That said, I am almost positive that Bioware/Atari/Hasbro had some issues with defective CDs from the original distribution that were prone to cracking. They were offering a replacement plan whereby they'd swap out your cracked CDs. This was done through Atari, I think, as they were handling the general technical/customer support. Check it out. I think there's a way to get a fresh CD. I know there used to be anyway.
One last note....making copies for the purposes of installing should work fine, but for the "play" disc there's that additional SecuROM encoding stuff that's supposed to prevent copying. Copies of the Bioware Play Disc (Disc 1) don't always work for actual game play.
I'm certain there are ways around this, but I'm not going to go into those.

He has no original CD2...he broke it heh. So if he's acquiring the CD through other means i think were well on the other side of legal

While he has purchased the CD yes, he is crossing the line trying to get a copy--however legit it may seem. He needs to contact Bioware and work with them, or purchase a new one.
Sorry, but I can not, and will not, support copying of a game cd... so lets not talk about it on the forums. Contact Bioware.
