Voice set in elvin language
« on: June 07, 2005, 06:25:00 PM »
A long time ago on another server their was a character that played a female drow.  Her voice set was actually in elvin.  I'm wondering if anyone has heard of voices like this and/or knows more about how to obtain such voice sets - whether it's feasible or not.  The time was about a year ago that i've since last heard this voice set.

I've seen a drow voice set (that was not elven, it was drow.)  I figured it was just NPC voices from HotU put together or something.  You can't really add your own voiceset (unless the server/module has it in their haks) since you would have to add a sizable amount of audio data.

Well actually you could. You would have to rename your audio file to match the name of one of the voice set, then copy your audio files over the old one, overrighting them. This way, you would hear your own voice set, but the other people on the server would hear the old voice set. After that, if you wish some people to hear your voice set, you would only have to distribute your files to those people.

The problem with that, is that will be a complete overright, and means that if someone else is using the original files, you will hear your audio file. Example, you would hear a dwarf (if you chose to overight a drawf voice st) speaking a girly dark elf voice set.

Worth the incovenience? probably not, but this would be a way of doing it, without having a massive amount of audio files to be added to the hack.

For what it's worth, I endorse what Hellblazer said and how to do it. We changed files as he describes for some locally ran LAN games and it worked, except I had forgotten I had used the same named voice set for some male dwarves and it sounded really weird.
