I just feel I need to say this. I am surprised at how many people walk by a wemic in their midsts and do not say a darn thing or react in any way.

This just baffles me. These have not been seen around Hlint. Most characters would not have seen one before, yet a half lion/half man is walking around and most think nothing of it.

If a dragon were to suddenly appear, would the same thing occur?

*shakes head sadly*

When one passed by recently, I was trading with Talan.  I asked what it was, and he said it was probably just a summon gone awry.  With all the crazy things people can summon, it wouldn't be surprising to see just about anything around town at some point.

Dragons, though, have a way of getting right down to business when they come to town, so you don't really get a chance to ignore them.

You'd be surprised what creatures walk around on the plane of Ysgard where Gaunt is from :)
But indeed ... some people should RP a little more "fear of the unknown"

Gaunt is baffled by the Half-Giants though

Jacchri was on the hunter's quest and saw the first lionman (wemic).
When I was walking to the bank one night I saw Tai and was very exited. I RP a bit and did some information feedback to the group, but alas I could not spend anymore time. Since then I had not the opportunity to spend any time with Tai, but would love to.
And yes people are very complacent about unknown creatures in Hlint. I nearly attacked a spider the other day in Hlint, just at the last moment to realise it was Vindel morphed into a spider. The same happened when I saw an orc the other day, I was very aggresive towards it till it was RP that he was actually from a another tribe that has not been corrupted.
I agree with you that people should RP creatures and characters the arrives in Hlint. Same as people RP against drow, the same should apply to half-gaints, goblins, orcs, wemic or any other character that is usually not found in Hlint (see population of Hlint, extracted from the forums, for characters that are uncommon in Hlint).
      "Population:   1,830 (60% Human, 15% Halfling, 10% Dwarf, 5% Half-Orc, 5% Gnome, 5% Elf) "

Admittedly I am one of those who has not RPed meeting a wemic as something unusual. Got too used to playing on another PW where wemics have become a norm and forgot it is not the case here. *slaps head* On another hand I have seen so many drow here that I am no longer sure how to react to them. On that same other world a dark-skinned elf would be kill-on-sight.  :)

We tested the dragon thing earlyer - Hlintites are just to jaded, and desensitised to weirdness. Even the actual hlint resedents are now very used to it. I would not be supprised if a pit fiend walked thru town and no one batted an eyelash when he asked where he could find an inn or if they wanted to join him in goblin bashing..I really wouldn't be supprised at all if that happened and no one cared.

Yes, I think it was my first or second day here when I saw the two dragons. Was not sure if it was "normal" or not, so I just tried to stay at a distance and watch how others react. Everything seemed to be quite peaceful. :)

I agree that these things should apply to all races, the Drow thing has particularly gotten to me recently. As I mentioned in another post a few weeks ago, when I started here the drow numbers were relatively low, and everytime you went around without a helmet or hood you would get set on by people. Now they seem to have been accepted in society, nobody fears them, and only the odd one or two bother to show their faces. The amount of them has not helped matters, and I have since given up playing both my Drow characters, mainly because they aren't "special" in the way they were before.

When I play I try to act like this to all non-standard races I see, with the exception of half-ogres, who all seem too nice to be aggressive with :) but any orcs, Drow, goblins etc that come by will catch an earful still, you just need to ask suliss (is that the right name?), as she has been feeling the brunt of my Dwarven pride for the last week or so :)

I think one of the problems regarding the Wemic in particular though is the language barrier, I like the fact they can't speak common, and I know there is good reason for that, but I think a lot of players who might not be on for very long, or just have short attention spans will get frustrated spending most of their time trying to communicate basic things such as their names. I've seen it before, when I was on a quest with Nith'wiel (again, spelling might be wrong) and a few months ago a character called Lindell.

I agree with you Feniox.  There are so many drow in and around Hlint now that you might as well act skeptical of everone over 5 foot tall and wearing a helmet.  In my opinion, that subrace has sort of lost its speciality.  Yet people continue to show up with new ones.

Drow are so popular because of their special abilities, spell resistance, darkness ja +2int +2cha is quite hard to resist, especially since the ECL is only 2

          Fools! Fear the Drows!

And the Wermics too. One of the fun things about playing a subrace is when people react to them or else I could just chosen an elf. I chose a Drow because I thought it would open up more fun RP opportunitys. I were a hood mostly of course so not anyone see that I'm a Drow, but sometimes when I when I dont have a hood people just dont care that I'm a Drow.
I demand that you hate me when you see that I'm a Drow! Of corse it's common whit Drows now, like you said before, so people might not fear them, but you should still not trust the Drows because nearly everyone should had heard rummors or stories on how treacherous they are.

I see now that I might have slipt of the topic a little. But if you see a wermic for the first time either you run away in fear, prepare for battle like you would have done to any other monster(Even if you wont get to attack it) or go up to it and start talk whit it.

          And remember! Fear the Drows!

All I gotta say is drow stink!  I used to play my character as hating drow, but then I kept getting harassed by the 5 other players keeping the drow company saying, 'You shouldn't judge,' blah, blah blah.  So now I just ignore drow with Waha.

I saw a weremin walk by me in hlint the other day, and choose the wiser course... to do nothing.  Just because someone does not act, does not mean they are unafraid.  To talk to it could set off a fight I could not win.

That said, I saw a dragon walking back and forth outside hlint the other day.  Back and forth, and back and forth.  Something about this dragon seemed friendlier somehow, so I followed, trying to talk to it, saying I had not seen a dragon before, etc.  The dragon was annoyed with me and finally said "Beat it."   I did.

Hold my tongue with a weremic, gabber on with a dragon ... yeah, this doesn't make sense, but it's RP'ing my character.  Also at first sight, weremics are kind of an abomination of nature ... seems like unnatural magic.  Dragons are breathtaking, and my curiousity got the best of me.

*sighs* I play a drow, and have played him since October. From the begining I knew I'd get resistance, and boy did I. I'd say two outta every three characters (still low mind you) either walked off, insulted me, threatened me, or kicked me out. It was a blast! The only people I know who still carry major hatred are "some" dwarves (Kobal and Harg, we love you guys), some deep gnomes (only one really), and some elves.
                Hmm.... *has an idea*
