Dual wielding large picks

I was reading up on the RULES sections and found i an dual wield wodaxes - this helps rangers cutting trees a lot.
Was wonering if the same could be apllied to mining. I appreciate this might make making weapons to easy. How about only allowing dual wield large picks with weapon focus - or even weapon specialisation? This would make it real expensive in feats - but for a realy dedicated miner - worth doing.
Just A thought.
And hugs all round for the Layonara team for those that want them.

I have a half giant that with a simple STR buff and using improved power attack he can already get one ore per hit.
The pick axes we had in the last version of Layo you could in fact dual weild .... I watched Wolv Tolken go to town in the bottom of Haven Mines swinging Dual Picks... it was insane... hehe.
Not exactly sure why the new picks were set to not allow dual weilding. But I'm sure some one in the know can tell us.
How about a smaller pick that you can dual that does less damage?

I was reading up on the rules section and found I can dual wield wood axes - this helps rangers cutting trees a lot.
After mentioning the dual wield of wood axes to a friend who is a tree surgeon, who has experience of using all sorts of axes, billhooks and the like he told me that cutting branches is a 2-handed job. Even if the axes in question are 1 handed, balance and position would make dual wielding impractical
Well he did after he stopped laughing at me for being a geek.
This is a fantasy setting, so what the hell, why not dual-wield. If that is possible, though, how about dual-wielding pick axes? Seems a bit strange that one is in place and the other not. In "old" layonara I am led to believe dual-wielding was possible.
Was wondering if the same could be applied to mining. I appreciate this might make making weapons to easy. How about only allowing dual wield large picks with weapon focus - or even weapon specialisation? This would make it real expensive in feats - but for a realy dedicated miner - worth doing.
This is sort of a repost from CNR section, but I guess is is a general one too as I am kinda talking about issues of play balance etc.
If this has been dealt with before, I apologise for bringing it up again. I did search for the topic but couldn't find anything.

Come on guys... Miner's pick is a a two handed tool even in real life.. Unless it's a small pick.
EDIT: To add to that chances are most of you would have trouble handling a large pick axe single handed with your primary hand. I am not even talking about off hand. And mining does require precision strikes. And not whacking away with all your might. Under the best circumstances, it'd take one hours to mine and clean a good sized nugget of ore. As for hand axes do not wield them dual handed.. That's just power gaming... Chopping wood requires even more precise strikes... The reason hand axe was used for wood axe and not large two handed axe is obvious, otherwise everyone would have to get a martial weapon feat to be able to chop wood... now that would be nasty, would it not? So don't abuse the system.

The reason the Ore Picks are two handed is because (and this goes for wood too) people were holding a pick in one hand, and a regular enchanted weapon in the other. (Ie: Pick and Enchanted Longsword). We did the whole, whack a stone or tree with a weapon that is not a pick or axe 10 times the weapon gets destroyed unfortunatly people still did it and seemed to forget about it being destroyed after 10 shots and would come back complaining. We went the route to make sure people wouldn't do it any more. If you need two hands to hold a large pick it kinda dissmisses everyone's complaints for weapons breaking on ore veins.... it just shouldn't happen any more.
As for the realism part, you're swinging an 8lb pick (think it's
with one hand? Perhaps you can do that, but honestly how much controll/strength can you get outta it? I'm quite strong and have a hard time controlling a one handed swing with a 30oz baseball bat. An 8lb one in each hand, forget it.

you need the martial feat for hand-axes anyway ...
And it is also near impossible to dual-weild long-swords, or bastard swords in RL, but our charcters are certainly not RL people.

Incorrect. The handaxe proficiency also appears in the Rogue and Monk weapon proficiency sets.
Though you're right on the dual-wielding of bigger weapons like that, that's something that bugs me when I'm participating in fantasy larps. People wielding two longswords like it's nothing... grr.

Well... My characters, if dual wield dual wield a two bladed sword or a medium weapon like a scimitar and a dagger or a mace.

It's a matter of balance I believe, and it's a rule regardless of what people think about it. On World of Caenyr, a place where I casually play another character, there is a saying. And that saying is...
"You don't have to agree. Just comply."
I think it fits here.

I am a ranger who cuts down an occasional tree. I have never used 2 axes to do so. Just doesnt seem right.
