Need to ask this

I don't want to nag, but if I don't ask it I don't think I ever dare to enter the nameless dungeon again.

So here I go.

Today Taislin Woolhands organized an expedition in the nameless dungeon near Haven. Our first venture with relative lowlevels went very well, untill some people had to leave after which we couldn't continue and had to go back.

While the others went back my PC, Daeron stayed to explore the deeper levels of the dungeon to see what there was to find. When he returned he foudn the rest of the party still struggling to leave the upper level and he encountered creatures that hadn't been spawned before and much more than first.

This was the first point where I thought we got a little bit of good old DM attention.

A bit later we returned with a much larger and slightly higher leveled party.

Before I continue I must state that I think I don't die often, Daeron still having zero DT's.

But anyway, at the second venture, I couldn't help but notice the effectiveness of the creatures. My question is whether this was due to bad party tactics or a little bit of DM-guided carnage. At one point we were hit by a Xorn earthquake while as far as I know, nobody ever saw the Xorn. Apparently he did see us.

Really, I never died so often (3 time within 10 minutes, ouch, 32000 xp), the dungeoninhabiting Xorns being an important factor to that development.

So, I was still having a good time, but I just want to know if we as a party were fighting worse, or if a DM was helping the creatures a bit?

PS: I hope I'm not sounding to paranoid in this post

The xorns are one of the quite normal, and more deadly spawns of the nameless dungeon, gotta remember, the more folks you add to the party the tougher the spawn gets. The nameless dungeon is a place steeped in lore and thre is a rather ominous story behinf the place, it's NOT a place to be delved lightly, ask around IG and I am sure you will find out more.

what I think probably happenend was you got a different spawn level on the way out than you did on the way in.

actually i think there is some kinda of script that tailor makes areas to suits your levels,  so if you bring more people or higher levels,  the monsters will be more numerous or spawn with scrolls to use against you ect.

Thanks for the reply. I think Daeron will be doing some more research, especially after he saw what was at the third level.

This is a particulalry nasty place for low to mid levels...it spawns xorn for this range of players and more umberulks are added with higher level PC's in the party.

Xorns earthquakes are devastating, I have experienced one that did 86 dmg to a level 8 character (lucky I was a barbarian and had lots of HP).

Take care this place is not for the fainthearted or those unwilling to experience death more than a few times!

it is mostly avoided becouse of the rust monsters i belive... they can and will eat the helm of armor write off your head... not to mention your shield... your weapon... and likly your armor...

Is there any way to get another helm of armor?  Just curious.

no... ive seen amny chars for the last time there... lost all there gear to the rust monsters... never saw them again
