Would it be possible to get a weight reduction on the musical instruments? The 4lb weight is a bit much when you carry multiples of them as their fashion accessory option. Only the violins are lightweight and they cannnot be transformed at the customization stations. They have such great RP value as books, parasols, fans etc.  Having them in the 0.5 - 1.0 lb range would seem a bit more reasonable.

Aren't they supposed to be heavy, carrying them all is your chars choice right?

Carrying anything is the characters choice, doesnt neccissarily mean the way it is is right *shrugs*

However, in this case, I think the weight is tied to the fact that the base item is a "magic staff" which weighs 4 lbs.

The weight reduction property could be added, but that would add to the "value" of the item and hence raise the level requirement, though the value can be edited directly... *shrugs again*

I kinda thing that hickory chimes are hickory chimes and probably shouldn't be turned into umbrellas or fans, and if they are used for this secondary purpose their base weight probably doesn't need to be adjusted to accomodate.  Their purpose is to be instruments.

Additionally, customizing chimes into an umbrella makes pretty much no IC sense (yes I realize neither does full plate or wizard robes customized to look like elven chain, but I dont like that either.)

What we should have is a merchant that sells fashion accessories (perhaps with reduced weight) for like 100 coins a piece somewhere.

oh I like that idea Talan. They would sell the books, umbrellas, flags, and other accessories. That would save DMs time from handing out those things.
