Through the eyes and mind of Lushen Whitewood
« on: September 09, 2005, 03:51:00 AM »
Lushen sat on the ground under a tree in Hlint at the end of this day. As Lushen sat thinking back, on the past weeks of his life the memories and the pain came flooding back.

His first thoughts were of the first attack on Hlint by Blood. “I had just returned back to Hlint after traveling with Vellyn, Nessa, and Dargo. While parting ways with Nessa, and Dargo at the bell tower, there came a great storm with darkness. The Darkness was thick enough that even with the blessing from Katia on my eyes, I still could not see though it. The ground shook and lightening struck all around me. I saw a fellow traveler on the path get struck down in front of my eyes. My instincts were to protect myself from the storm. But it was no natural storm, it was Blood. I heard several screams through the darkness, of deaths to be told later. I first ran to the front of the court house, with others, realizing my dear friend, Vellyn was not by my side. I found myself running back to the darkness, calling for my friend Vel. There were people about looking for others. I found my dear priest friend doing his duties, trying to care for the fallen. Though the commotion, Vel, I and many others followed Ozymandias Llewellyn to Blackford castle. We went to seek out the queen for her guidance.
We meet with her and the Seven Sisters. We were to prepare ourselves for an upcoming battle. We swore our loyalty to the cause of removing Blood.
Walking back to Hlint with Vel my thoughts went to Neveah Duvaine and her safety. My dear friend Neva was usally carelessly hunting around for her potion additives. I wondered where she was, if she was safe.

Day by day I see more and more horrible things in this world. I fall to my knees and pray to Katia. I ask her why most there be so most darkness in the world, she has never answered. But I know one day I will know. Bloods army’s are coming soon; I just pray that I will have the strength to make Katia proud to call me one of her Rangers.

Today I found a man dead just off the road, his throat had been ripped out. His arms and legs were gone. No animal could have done it, other thing it is a demon. I know not of demons. I just hope that I can keep the ones I care so deeply for safe.

Today my friends, Vellyn, Raven my cousin and Kaelani Blackwillow my new charge had brought some light back to the Direwood ever if it is just for a short time. Vellyn is becoming a great bringer of light. Kaelani Blackwillow is growing fast and her power is increasing, I think one day soon she will not need me. But instead I will need her. Now Raven, he was always great in combat, I feel one day Raven will become a legendry fighter.

*Lushen thinks to him self*

Now a few more weeks have pasted, and the fight still rages on. I still feel the pain form time to time form the battles fought. I still think about Drezneb, and Eon, it has been sometime since our last meeting. When will I face them again, and will I be ready? I hope and pray to Katia for her guides.

*Lushen looks at the children play has he sits against the wall of Fort Hope, and thinks*

Raven and I would play like that back home that is before the goblins came. I still thank Katia for bringing Raven back to me after all this time. It is good to have family around with friends. Oh yes friends, Vellyn my dear friend. He has always been there when I needed him. And I will be there for him as well.

*Thinks about the last time they were in combat*

We head to the Direwood, fighting the darkness back once more. Freeing many souls we needed to rest. After resting at the outskirts of the Direwood a bird had come for me. The bird had a scroll on it, the scroll was from Lady Legodia of the High Forest. It read, “I wish to speak with you Lushen, your actions have been noticed. Please come to the High Forest and speak with me”. I told my dear friend Vellyn of its content. There was one other with Vel and I his name is Twixel. He to had learned of the calling. So the three of us when to the forest and I spoke with Legodia, she had told us to seek out Rhizome. I asked her why and she told me of the Dark Tree, and how it needed to be cut form the land. I had talked with Rhizome once before asking him of the Great Oak. He had not the time to speak with me then, I hope when I find him this time he will have the time.

*Lushen sits on a rock over looking Hlint*
The letter form the court said there is no law against chopping trees to the ground. I think now I most visit Lady Legodia, and ask for her guides. I still have not found Rhizome, but I feel I will soon. I feel in my heart that war is coming to Hlint, and it will not be Blood coming this time. The people of Hlint and of all of Mistone have lost there way. I feel I most show them the way once more, be that is teach with words or teaching with blades ether way things have to change. But I know I can not do it alone, I most find allies.

*Lushen finds him self on a hill side thinking back not three days ago*

Haven is safer now, thanks to my dear friends and family Neva, Vellyn, and my cousin Raven. The King was happy to see the head of his enemy. After our farewells with the King we headed to Hlint, think we may find some peace but that was not so. The fire in the Inn is still fresh on every ones mind. I still feel it would have been better if the whole Inn had been destroyed. I feel so much anger for the people of Hlint; the trees are still dieing, and all for men’s greed. There gluttony will have to be stopped. And then it happened, I see him, Tcho. Once more he taunts me; I can feel the fire within me, and a fire that can only be extinguished by his blood. He adds more wood to the fire by tells his lack of care for nature and the trees. In my anger I find my self saying “The fire in the Inn was just a start.” Not long after saying that did thing go badly. People form all around come calling for my head, saying I did it. A man by the name of Goldwin Blacknight, or I think that is what his name was came to question me. He found there was no way to tell if I had, he asked me to talk of it no more. I gave him a *nod* then he walked a way along with the others. My dear friend Vellyn needed to pray, so I gave him my best. Neva was heading back to work on her potions and scrolls.
“See you so my friends” I said. Then I headed back to the Sielwood, the walls of Hlint were too much for me at this time. “Mother, Please help me mother Katia guide me in this time of need!” And then I lie on the forest ground and fall to sleep.

*Lushen falls to his knees, feeling the leaves and grass with his hands. He cups his hands together and brings the foliage to his nose and takes a deep breath. He then closes his hands around the undergrowth he is holding.*

“Mother, HEAR ME. Mother (Katia) why so much darkness, why was much death? I had to say goodbye to my dear friend Vellyn. I know in my heart I will see him again. But mmmother.

*Lushen’s eyes begin to fell with tears.*

Mother his work was not done. Never in my life have I met a more noble man a more kind man. He was the light in the path of darkness, an ever burning light. I know he was not one of your children, but you know his father. Why take some much light away when there is more darkness then light.

*Lushen stops talking for a few moments, and looks to the sky.*

Vellyn, VELLYN I need you. How will I see the path now? I will never stop talking to you my friend. NEVER. Please my friend, help me, help show me the way. Blood is still coming my friend, what will I do with out you?

*And just then Lushen sees a white Dove fly over head, and the sun comes out from the clouds. Shining light on Lushen’s face, he can feel the warmth. The tears seem to stop, and then he looks straight head, and sees rays of light coming throw the clouds. The light is heading north out of the Sielwood. Lushen comes to his feet, and begins head north.*

I still must find Rhizome. I will always have you in my heart Vel. Lushen said to him self.

*Lushen sits under a tree outside of Hlint, Thinking to him self and form time to time talking out loud to his friend Vellyn now gone.*

The Great Oak, the Dark Tree, still I have not found Rhizome. I have talked to Brisbane Ashaley his daughter and her husband Plenarius Ashaley about the Great Oak and the Dark Tree they told me what they could. I have had many of my bird friends’ searched Mistone for him with no luck. I will find him one day, or he may find me. I have made a new friend his name is Elyl Shoendar a priest of Katia. I met him not long have you Vellyn, I think in time we will be great friends, I think you would have liked him. Elyl is teaching me more about the priest hood of Katia. I found myself on that road all a long, *smiles* maybe one day I will take that step. Well my friend it is time for me to get moving, Farwell for now Vellyn *as Lushen waves to the sky* I will see you one day.
