High Level Items, Leanthars request.

All of my characters will gladly follow this request.

I'd also like to add that people remember that these items should bring a premium price even when dealing with friends. Lets not start selling +3 or higher things for a few thousand coins just because it's my buddy Joe Schmoe.

Enzo for example will be offering a Yew item for sale like I have now on the Trade Market Hall. The day it sells I will not offer another Yew (or similar +3 or higher) item that isn't consumable (Arrows bolts etc) for 30 RL days. No acceptions.

I hope the other high level crafters will understand, respect and follow Leanthars request.

Thanks all !!   :)

I am behind this 100%, not that I make anything extra extraordinary, but... If the player populace is unwilling to help balance the economy by keeping rare things rare and expensive, I am pretty confident it will be balanced in other ways.

+3 items from Ozy, normaly requires a special task. Last person to attempt one of those tasks receaved two tokens while they were at it then gave up. I seriously doubt there are three people on the server in any given mounth both high enough level, and insain enough to try my deadly tasks.

*Counts on one hand the number of +3 items he has created for anyone other than himself and finds he has fingers left over.*
Nope. Thordan isn't going to have any problems there. He's on board.

+3 items are for real?

Now I have something to look forward to making!!  or  buying by selling all my other possessions to put a 0.5% downpayment on one and allow myself to become the servant of the seller for several years in game!!

If and when I ever get a chance to make one, of course I'm on board!!

Agreed.  If +3 is the best available here, then they should be fairly rare, and DEFINITELY should be expensive.  I'm not saying this because I happen to make +3 bows, as well, but because if the price is lower than it would not mean as much when you get enough together to buy it, and the fact that 50 other people have the same item would not make you feel so grand about your purchase as if there were only 10 others with it.
On that note, Enzo, I think I will follow your lead and auction off +3 items, rather than selling them. The winner will feel proud to have won the item.

I think it is a grand idea. Auctioning them off I mean.

And I totally agree with restricting the sale of such items. Layonara is not a high-powered world and I like it like that.

Not that I have made any +3 items yet, but I also support this concept 100%.
I like the idea of auctioning +3 items, that would give everyone interested at least a chance to acquire one.....that is if that person have enough gold....*grins*
Having an auction would also indicate what items should rather put on auction next. For exampe lets assume there is only 5 people who can make +3 items in woodcrafting. If Xiao puts a longbow on auction, Enzo a heavy crossbow, then the next person would probably stay away from those two items and rather put a shortbow up for auction.

I'd say thats really up to each of the people selling the items to choose. Crossbows, staves and clubs won't have near the appeal as longbows will in that example. So I could see Xiao auctioning one then Enzo doing one when it was his turn again.

EDIT I think it wouldn't be wise for any two people to have the exact same item up for action at once though.

I have one question regarding this request, something that I don't fully understand. Now I know that I can not gather the materials myself and make hundreds and hundreds of items to flood the market, no problem with that. But what if the players themselves bring me all the necessary materials, should I also refuse crafting them after making one or two a month? I am asking because quite a few people bring their emeralds for me to craft, definetly more that one a month. So I would like to recieve some input here.

@AR7 - Thats a good point.. hmm.  My gut feeling on that is that you shouldn't feel like you need to turn down people who bring you materials just because someone else brough you materials earlier that month.  But the more I think about that, the more I have trouble really discerning what determines whether you should slow production or not.

I mean, is the deciding factor whether you gathered the materials yourself?  I don't think so because that doesn't make much sense...

Oh, finally figured out the logic behind my initial opinion on this.  My (subconsious?) reasoning was that the rarity (and price when available) of emeralds themselves limits the production of this particular example, where as some other things, such as yew stuff, dire bear gloves, and leather armors can be harvested and thus it is possible that we could have a lot of these coming into the market (not that they're easy to get... well, dire bears are pretty easy, but yew isnt from what i've heard, but the potential for flooding exists where as with emeralds, which may not even be placed IG dont have that potential as much.)  Not that people have been really flooding yew stuff from what I've seen so far, now that there are a handfull of people able to make them, its good to adress it before it happens.

So, thats my take on the comissioning of emerald jewelry.  The supply of emeralds creates a different economy for such jewelry than for other +3 items (except mithral.)  And that rarity of supply controls their production well enough.

Yeah, thats the conclusion I came to just now, so I'm totally willing to hear other arguments (and i mean this in a "formal debate" sense, not a "drunk at the bar" sense :P) because really, I was just rationalizing an intuitive answer heh.  May be something I haven't thought of (acctually there probably are many things.)

That was mostly my reasoning when I asked the above question. And I like the way you rationalised the thoughts, yet I'd like to hear more input from both players and GMs.

Aside from yew equipment, I am not really into this
idea of limiting +3 things more than they already
are. This thanks to difficulty of the quantity of
cnr needed and/or difficulty of reaching the cnr.

Those who can make +3 items in more than one
tradeskill shouldn't have any trouble selling
one item under each tradeskill. Like one yew-
bow and one leather armor a month.

Someone else might have the same high tradeskill
stats but split between two different characters.
And he wouldn't have a problem selling two +3
items a month using two characters.

And what happens is that you are decreasing the
percentage of players who own one of these things.

Saying that fifty other guys has it, doesn't need
to mean there are too many of the item around.
Considering how the playerbase keeps growing.

Well, I'm not really a crafter anyways. So it does
    not apply to me yet.

Emeralds I think are different because at present I don't think we have a group good enough or dedicated enough, or maybe crazy enough to try and get them, that is if they are in fact placed which I think they are.

Mithril is in the same boat if you asked me. It would be equally hard / impossible go get at this time. If even placed.

Other things, Dire Bears, Ancient Dire Bears, and Yew can be obtained by a good party, and in the case of Yew the party might come away with 12 branches or more (or they might get only a couple).

That party if they wanted to could go get Yew once a RL day and before you know it they are sitting on a forest of branches in their house.

I think Yew at the present time is the one that really needs to be kept under controll.

Yeah a few Emeralds have popped up recently, and yeah Rufus is top gem crafter so I'd wager nearly everyone who sees an Emerald talks to Rufus. I can easily see him making 3 or 4 Emerald items a month, and I can also see him hitting dry spells and going a month or more with out making any.

Personally I think Emeralds and Mithril are different at this time because they are not so easily gathered like Yew.

    my 2 cents

EDIT I also think that the fact people are bringing the Emerald to you makes it completly different. I'd almost think the same way if say some one Brought Enzo a branch of Yew and asked to have a bow made for them, even though I have sold one from my own stock in the last 30 days.

I think the heart of the request is the gathering with the intent of mass production and distribution amongst the player base.

Studded leather armors (and leather?) do not need
to be limited either, since they have extremely
    high lvl req.

On that Rufus part... I think it's safe to say that he can craft as many as he wants per month... since even though a high success chance, he still keeps rolling 1 on crafting with emeralds :D
