General Layonara/nwn online questions
« on: October 21, 2005, 01:28:00 AM »
I have not created a character yet.  Seems like I need to spend a lot of time on the bio.  I have run through the NWN games and a lot of the mods others have made but I have not played NWN online with others.  The only online rpg I played was Ultima Online for about the first 18 monthes it was out.  Ack! close to 9 years ago.

Anyway when playing Layonara might I wander around and by chance meet other players who happend to be in the same area?  I guess I am asking if its some sort of an ultima game with role playing and good rules in which I can log on with my Character and meet other people in the Layonara world and interact ( roleplay )?
Is it one large "module" run on a server that various people play on at the same time?

Thanks in advance....

Roleplaying is a huge part of what layonara is about.
So there will probably be a lot of interaction
for you and your character.

And it's three large servers wich are connected. THey
are all part of the world of Layonara. Guessing there
are three to divide the workload between the servers.

West server is where you'll start and where it is
easiest to meet people.

The general rule is it gets harder and more dangerous
the further you travel from Hlint, the starting spot
for your newly created character.

In difficulty degree, Central server is next and East
server tops the danger list.

There are usually a lot of people on west during peak times these days, and anymore theres only a few hours of the day where it drops dont to five or so.  If you come in game I would be amazed if you didnt see another player for five minutes and wouldn't be amazed if you were having a conversation with someone after five seconds.

The world is very large.  1200+ areas at latest estimate?

There are places you can spend all day and never see another PC, and there are places where sometimes theres so many people it becomes difficult to keep up with whats being said sometimes heh.

Come on in and find out.

And there are plenty of new players that come to the game every week like me ... so don't feel intimidated/worried that the server will be full of high level PCS and no one for you to adventure with ;)

Yeah, I mean new people come all the time, I see them and I feel they need help so I appraoch them.
They ask questions and I help them roleplay a bit, so they can get a greater understanding of the game. Once your in, with a fun RPing character, *Repeats like a programmed robot* Layonara is number one!~

*Shakes head* What just happened there? :)

Don't be afraid to talk to higher level characters! they are often much less intimidating than you think...
especialy the old sorcerer with the Don Quiote syndrome.
