I'm having problems trying to decide..

Ok, I'm currently a lvl 8 rogue, but currently see Shadow as more of an archer.
I'm thinking about making him a fighter at lvl 11 for 6 levels to get some much needed feats like mobility.
Now i can't decide if the extra feats which i do oh so need, are worth getting instead of the even stronger sneak attacks. With my current sneak attack I can do a maximum of 30 damage if I get a lucky roll, at lvl 9 it shoud be even higher.. +5d6 i believe?
Now even that is an incredibly strong attack, and if i were to take fighter lvls my fortitude would become stronger and my base attack would rise faster. I currently have a base attack of 6, allowing me to have two attacks per round, which means i can deal out theoretically up to 60 points of damage a round, now if i were to become a fighter that would become even stronger and allow me to fire even faster.
Shadow was when i first thought him up as a character was going to be an assassin like character..but other time he has become more drawn to archery, and a quicker firing rate would mean he would be a pretty good archer, especially if each shot were a sneak attack.
But i can't decide if the extra attack round and feats are worth losing out on the even stronger sneak attack i would have if i were to stay rogue, but then after 6 lvls of fighter i would return to my rogue lvls anyways.......plus you get them special rogue feats from lvl 10 onwards......
What are your opinions.....?

I say, just let the character go down his own road. If he chances to meet someone that can teach him how to use other weapons, wear heavy armor, etc, or something else "fighter-like," then take some levels of fighter. If he ends up in more support roles and finds himself staying sneaky, just stick to rogue.
Mechanically, and in the big picture, adding levels of fighter would be most beneficial, seeing as how before 21st level is the only time classes get the varying BAB and number of attacks. Once you're epic, you're stuck with the number of attacks you have at that point.

get rapid shot, that will give you a extra attack. In that way you will be poping 3 arrows a round doing 90 damage max, or whatever you can max at. I would stay rogue, personaly, i love the sneak attack. You will need the point blank shot feat, and if you use a bow for your main weapon you likly have it already.

actually no i haven't. i have found that as a rogue you pretty much never get to choose a feat as its always taken by sneak attack. thats why I'm planning on becoming a fighter for 6 lvls so i can get the feats that I so badly need then stay rogue forever more.

yeah, if you're an archer, you definitely need point blank shot and rapid shot, as they are the only two bow feats in the entire game (which really sux). of course, you'll want to take weapon focus in whatever bow you use, and if you get four levels of fighter, take Weapon Specialization for the 4th level fighter feat for 2 extra damage. these are all just mechanics, of course, make sure it's what your char would do.

For bow, pointblank, rapid shot (which will need a bit of getting use to as it's not automatic, weapon focus and improvecrit on it *shrugs* along with the sneakattacks you'll never need special arrows but you'll alawys need to fight along side someone as that CP will be a support PC

As an archer you might want to consider "Called Shot" as well, is is very useful against opponents when the fight will last a couple of rounds.

mobility is really never a much needed feat for a rogue, unless you need it for some other reasons, the reason being that all mobility does is give you +4 AC vs attacks of oppertunity, now thats all well and good, but odds are, after dex bonus at level 9 your rogues tumble skill is around 16 or 17, which effectivly makes you immune to attacks of oppertunity as the opponent is never allowed to take them in the instances where mobility would make a difference
mobility is really only good for fighters which often wear heavy armor and as such can't pass the tumble DC check
also note, if you mostly use missle weapons the rogue specific Critical strike feat (rogue level 10 req) is a bad choice as it's effects only happen for melee sneak attacks
rogues get just as many feats as all other chacters with the exception of fighters and wizards as fighters get a bonus feat at every even level and wizards get a bonus feat every fifth level, the sneak attack does not eat up the chance to take a feat, you just only get to choose a new feat every 3 levels as most other characters do
if you have any other questions about rogues in general in NWN feel free to ask me in a PM i'll reply when i get the chance, and i'll help in any way that i can
