Author Topic: IMPORTANT TO READ, SERVER IP CHANGES COMING SOON (Read 1416 times)

On Monday the 9th of January, at 9am, all servers will be going down for about two hours for maintenance. During that time I also need to change the IP addresses of all servers (including for the forums/website). As such...when the servers come back up you will not be able to get to the servers with their current IP addresses.
Instead use the following when doing a direct connect to the game servers:
west.layonara.com[/b] (what is now 64.127.106.68—will not work any longer) central.layonara.com[/b] (what is now 64.127.106.69—will not work any longer) east.layonara.com[/b] (what is now 64.127.106.70—will not work any longer) planes.layonara.com[/b] (soon to come) quest.layonara.com (we will use this server for some quests from time to time)
When trying to reach the forums/website you will need to use www.layonaraonline.com[/b] as the current/old IP will no longer work. This website may take up to 72 hours to be updated across the entire internet, but chances are it will be ten hours or less for most of you. Do not panic if you can not get to it within the first 24-48 hours. If you can not reach it after 72 hours then send an email to dscott@sierratel.com and I will try to help you.
Please pass this information on to all players and please make sure as many people as you know get this information.

The passwords for all servers will remain the same.

I always wondered why we weren't just using DNS to connect to the servers. Now I guess we do.

Will we still be able to connect through Gamespy? I don't really know how t oconnect in any other way. I'm not that computer literate. *Shrugs*

When I play on Layonara I start the game-then hit multiplayer-then sign in-then I think it goes to gamespy as a list of tons of servers comes up-then I hit direct connect then sign in as "layoplayer". Am I right that at this direct connect I will type in the new adress of "west.layonara.com" starting 1/9/06?

Also when people say direct connect I get the feeling that there is a way to skip that that first sign in and bypass gamespy. Is that true and if so how do you do it? or am I already doing that by hitting the "direct connect" button.

*nods to Thrainsil* Yep, that is where you would type in the address and password.
And yes, just go to multiplayer and then instead of join internet game click on LAN Game. It will give you the direct connect interface.

Yeah! my first logon this way ..remember kiddies to put a (.) in between west and layonara, like this (west.layonara.com) not like me ( westlayonara.com) or you will be getting rather frustrated..and you will never get on.
also tried to get on using the layo auto loader didnt happen. Does this need an update also?
