Collecting CNR
« on: January 12, 2006, 11:06:00 AM »
Just a quick question on manners.

If you are collecting CNR with your character (for example Wheat inside the pen at Haven) and another
character shows up, is it considered poor manners to start on the other side and work towards the
character already collecting the CNR?  Or is this completely acceptable behavior in Layo?  Thanks.

If you ran up and started gathering something some one else was already gathering and didnt say a word to them... I'd have to think that is very poor manners....

Now if you say.. mind if I take half... or some? and they agree... then your fine I'd say.

And if they say no ... well.. *shrugs* they were there first.  Chalk it up to RP and remember that next time when YOU are there first and that person walks up and asks to share.  :)

The biggest thing I think it to take the person into account...

Some one like Chanda who wasnt loved as a child *snickers* has problems sharing and would have no remorse for going up and taking the remaining wheat from some one in this situation.

Others with acuall morals and a conscience *snickers at Chanda again* would be considerate and share.

OH COME ON!! Chanda is soo easy to pick on I cant help it...    hehe  ;)

And this is one of those situations where those poor Half-Ogres or Half-Giants can't PK someone for harvesting the place where they are, hehe. ;)

If I see someone gathering where I want to gather I just usually find something else to do.
  Yeah, G-452 said it best.

What if, say for example, you are out collecting corn and someone is on top of the hill near Port Hampshire surrounded by ants and fighting for his life.  Are you then obligated to ask that individual if he is collecting corn, when he is obviously fighting ants?  Is it appropriate or even courteuous for that individual to then chase you down and accuse you of taking the corn at the bottom of the hill after he made it 'safe for you'.  Especially in light of the fact that you dont even have to fight said ants to get that particular corn stalk?

I think this is what everyone should ask themselves, then act.

What would my character do?  ...... Then do it.

If your character has no problem with getting materials someone else may or may not be gathering... then do it.

If you character is rather polite.. help them with said ants if they seem to be struggling... then ask.

It's all about the Roleplay.

OK Garnet was the one fighting ants. He was fighting because he thought it rude to grab the corn then run. When you grab and run you lure the ants down the hill to wander between the two hills untill the ants find something to fight. The spot I'm talking about is the way to the Battle Fens from Port Hampshire Outskirts.

And if you think that a Dwarf that is being considerate will not get mad about "in his eyes" being ripped off, then you need to read about Dwarves more ;)

On a side note. Thank You to the one that came up with this: "You have lost your bait. But you notice.... That you have Hooked an Empty Bottle."
Yesterday this made my night and I couldn't even RP after that. I was laughing too much. :)
