DDO?
« on: February 23, 2006, 05:06:53 PM »
Anyone beta tested DDO?
It's released on the 3rd here in Australia.     From what I've read it sounds mostly like a dungeon crawl game, not that it's necessarily a bad thing... but it makes me curious how it will last as an "mmo". No crafting, no out of combat reason to play. Sounds like you log on, and run dungeons.    I'm probably going to pick it up, because I understand that the dungeon crawling is really good, and it sounds like something I would enjoy... but I fear I'm going to miss all the other stuff, like crafting, housing, etc. Things that really make an mmo an mmo.
  Anyone have thoughts?

I played in the beta.  It is not like WoW or Layo.  I think it will be fun to log into once or twice a week and play with your friends.  It is not solo friendly.  The developers where trying to make it like a weekly D & D session with your friends.

Yeah, that's my concern. It doesn't seem very MMO'ish, yet they have an MMO fee. :\

Heheh, oke thanks. And.. ehm.. what's the exact meaning of MMO and mmorpg's and stuff?

Oh, and if people are interested to entertain me, what does l337 mean or sometinh?

Yeah, I'm really not in to the whole abbreviation thing.. yet. :D

*refuses to put the role play part into an acronym that describes WoW et. al.*
