    one handed / 2 handed
    « on: March 16, 2006, 06:01:52 AM »
Half giants can use two handed weapons in one hand.  Can they use them in two hands to get the two handed damage bonus?  I think that for bastard sword the way to do this was to not equip a shield, but I dont think this works for half giants.  Is there a way to equip a weapon two-handed for them?

I think it comes about as the same for a fighter using a normal longsword two-handed. It's a NWN restriction, and as I'm aware, cannot be fixed without some nifty script action.

Two handed weapons such as Greatswords wielded by HG's, do not count as two-handed for the 1.5 Strength damage bonus like it works for regular characters. Basically it's just like having a Human wielding just a Longsword.

The neat feature is that you can wield a Greatsword and a Bastard sword, and the penalties applied for dual-wielding are the same as if you were a Human wielding a Longsword and a Shortsword. :)

I tested this using the DM-client, possessing several different creatures and checking out the bonuses, there might be a difference on Layo, but if so, i can' tell :)

Okay, thanks.  I will have to be content when somewhere around level 15 I can, if properly buffed, deliver somewhere around 200 pts with my one-handed scythe hit :)  I would considere the two weapon fighting, but Mikey's story prevents that for now.

The flail was used to separate grain by beating. It consisted of a wooden bar hinged or tied to a handle. This was adapted as a medievalmetal weapon. Perhaps a flail would be an acceptable second weapon?

Yes, but I would have to check if it is considered light for half-giants.  Wouldnt that be a sight to see, a scythe and a flail being weilded by the same person.

:) this thread remined me of a character in a campaign long ago, when I first started RPing.  There was a half giant that got ahold of the mattock and maul of the titans.  I believe the description was "you see a giant coming at you swinging a pick and a shovel" :)
