My first day in Hlint and I have already been on a grand adventure!  Somehow, mysteriously, all of my equipment, except for the shirt on my back, disapeared as I entered the town.  Where did it go?  Who took it?  Whatever was I to do?  There were many people around, but all seemed so busy that I decided that I must tackle this adventure head-on.  Thus, I headed down to the sewers, hoping to find something in which to defend myself.

All I found were rats.  Lots of rats.  I was able to fell a few, but they swarmed, like the Tides of Death.  However, I was able to smite them all with nothing but the ardor of my will.  Ratsbane should be the name that I am known for in posterity!

Leaving the sewers, I decided that I should find someone to help.  And lo and behold!  A master Dward named Stonecutter led me on a periless journey fraught with adventure and danger, whereupon I was called to dig in the fetid shores of an ill-begotten lake.  And there, revealed by the strength of my brawn and my shovel, were two clumps of some amazing new material known as "clay."  With this "clay," the master Dwarf was able to create an amazingly lite-weight dagger.  With this new weapon, I shall delve back into the depths of the sewer and cement my name of Ratsbane!

And as soon as I return, I shall write an appropiate ode for the master Dwarf Stonecutter.  Never before in this land has such a weaponsmith shown his ability!

More Adventures: The Ratman and the Goblin King
« Reply #1 on: April 22, 2006, 02:31:02 AM »
More Buckeriffic adventures beheld me!  First, while I may be "Ratsbane," I knew that if I was to take the stolen tax forms from the vile Ratman, I would need the aid of other adventurers.  And adventurers I did find!  With the soothing sounds of my song, I was able to sway too men of great reknown to my cause.  Rizzen Fallingstar and Friyel Rha'dae rose to the challenge and down into the sewers we tredged.

While there, we faced vile vermin in hordes, finally braving into the undercity where we were able to slay the Ratman and return with the precious tax forms.  The Lady of the Tax Office thanked us kindly, and placed a lucious kiss upon our collective cheeks.

But the adventure did not end there!  Nay, we were joined by their good friend Kaeydarin and the wandering adventurer Jeremy Steele, and we struck fear into the hearts of the Goblin Hordes.  On and on, with the calm leadership of Mr. Steele, we struck and struck, taking down all that would oppose us.  And, in the end, we took the head of the Goblin King and made passage safe for all manner of beings.

Such grand adventure we did share!  I shall write songs and poems of these harrowing adventures!  We were, as we shall ever be, "The Band!"

The Bucktastic Adventures, featuring Ms. Addison Scarlace

This day, I met a woman of amazing prowess and beauty.  Ms. Scarlace first showed me her inequatable skills of altering her armor.  Truly an amazing site!  She then showed me her Buckeriffic blade, forged by a master craftsman.  Of course, I had to show her Ratsbane, my amazing dagger, forged by the equally amazing Master Dward Stoutsomethingoranother.  She then led me on an expidition to hunt dreaded Goblins and Orcs.  O!, they shall rue the day that they came across Ms. Scarlace!  She spun into them...like some whirlwind...as she attacked...I must come up with some Buckelicious name for such a spinning maneuver...

The blood of the Goblins and Orcs stained the ground red this day!

Sit-Down with Master Ozy

A Night with Master Ozy

The other night, I spent some time with Master Bard Ozymandias Uewellyn.  He has truly humbled me with both his prose and with news that the Ineffable Chord is no more.  I hold strong to my convictions, though; even if it is true, that the great Ineffable Chord is gone, I shall start a troupe of my own and live up to their ideals.  This, I vow.

The name of the group?  "The Bucktastics!"

Buckeriffic adventure!

The Band of the Buck has returned!  This day, besides myself, there were these individuals:

Jeremy Steele, the fearless leader, and his lovely Lady Kesa Briams
Sala and Jako Stonehill
Cedric Tornay
Sho Tan Sei Whu
Alain Spender
Arwinath Dy'nesifer

This morning saw such great adventure as the Band of the Buck rose to help a poor magician's apprentice...do...something...I kinda lost track of the conversation at some piont...too busy looking at the butterflies...

Anyway!  We were supposed to find some stuff for some people.  So, we went to the fetid, squallid swamp, to talk to the Lady of the Swamp.  We killed some stuff on the way.  I think.  Like, scaley things.  And some bugs.  I know there was this really mean swarm of mesquitoes.  Anyway, the Lady of the Swamp (not very lady-like...) told us that we had to get some other stuff first.  So, in order to get some stuff, we had to get some stuff.  Yeah, I was confused, too.

So, we did that.  Killed some undead things on the way.  I think we played a game with some stupid red flying thing, too, but I don't remember all that well.  Eventually, we had to get to some gypsies for some reason, but I got lost on the way there, and somehow ended up back in Hlint.

Such Bucktastic Adventure!

Back in Hlint~!

I am back in Hlint~!

For all of my fans that have been wondering where I have been...well...I'm not exactly sure.  You see, one day, many...many...moons ago, I decided to live up to my name as Ratsbane and I chased down this large rat who left the town.  I followed him through brush and pasture, through the dastardly heat of day and the chilling cold of night, all the way to...well..you see, I'm not exactly sure.  I lost track of the thrice-bedamned beast somewhere and...well...I'm not even sure where I ended up.  And it has taken me so long to get back to Hlint.  I have wandered the road, living off only my own wits and constitution.  Many were the times that I wished I could just curl up into a ball and leave this mortal coil.  But, dear fans, I did not.  Your hero and role model did not~!  I continued my trek, trudged through my sojourn, until I finally came back to the gates of our great Hlint.

Once back, I looked around for my companions, for the members of the Band of the Buck, but, alas, I was unable to find one.  Not one!  Then I began searching for my esteemed mentor, Master Ozzy.  But, alas, he was not around either.  Thus, left to my own designs, I decided to spend some time creating a matching piece to my wondrour article of power: my hickory chimes!

I slaved over the damning heat of the fires...I sawed away at my branch of hickory...I even wept a little...but in the end, a companion piece to the Greatest Chimes Ever Made had been forged...a new set of Hickory Chimes!

What a Bucktastic adventure~!

A Swarm of Lizard Men!
« Reply #6 on: February 24, 2007, 01:13:32 AM »
What a Bucktastic Adventure was beheld today!

My day started as many others do: I checked to see if anyone had responded to my post in the Inn about my return.  Alas, no one from the Band of the Buck have tried to get in contact with me.  Not even Master Steele.  I was saddened.  I then ascended the stairs outside and sat upon the wooden level, hoping against hope that I might see Master Ozzy.  After all, I am sure he would love to see me!  After all, 'tis I, his greatest Apprentice, the Buck!

However, it was all for naught.  No Master Ozzy.  Instead, I met some new friends!  First, there was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen (aside from the Lady Scarlace, of course), the Lady Tialle Dianesis!  She was truly a sight for sore eyes, for not since the aforementioned Lady Scarlace had I ever seen such a wondrous face!  In fact, I even began to write a song abot her!

"Eyes...um...and a chin....and...um...hair..."

Obviously, I am still working on it. I'm kinda stuck.  What rhymes with broccoli?

Anyway, I also met a couple of (dangerous) mages.  Tadhy McNeill, Timulty Keel, and Aronathas.  Between the three of them, they put on a (dangerous) display of magical might!  There was light!  There was fire!  Truly, they were amazing people of great power!

Then again, they also went chasing after the ~spooky~ beholder.  Right.  Like there's such a thing as a beholder.  Ha!

Anyway, we were eventually joined by several others who wished to find a cave in the Lizardman-infected Moores.  We were joined by Katsumy Himara and the chivalrous Tharen Haleniro.  Powerful adventurers, all.

Yes, dear readers...the Band of the Buck has rode again~!

After preparing ourselves and leaving Hlint, the question of leadership came up.  Naturally, I was fit for the role.  After all, hadn't I been through this area while battling the Red Flying Thing?  Of course, I had!  Yet, somehow, another rose to power.  But, I certainly know when to support and not lead.  I am but a minstrel; I document.

Once we prepared ourselves further we ventured into the next area.  And, lo and behold, we were accosted by a flurry of dreaded mesquitos!  Oh no!  They were taken down quickly...but not before they had hurt the Lady Tialle.  Luckily, I was there with my bardic might to soothe her wounds.

Before long, however, darkness would reveal itself.  Lizardmen.  Many of them.  With my heroic shout of, "Lizard!" emboldening my fellow teammates, we threw everything we had at the retched things.  The mages sent (dangerous) bolts of magic.  Tharen let his sword strike true.  And my bolts, and my song, flew through the air, vanquishing foes left and right!

However, our drama soon became a tragedy.  For, as we fought, bravely, one of our own fell.  Our gallant paladin, Sir Tharen, knew his end.  Struck down by the wretched swords of the barbaric lizard men, he fell.  We swiftly constructed a marker for him, praying against hope that the Gods would allow his soul to find his body.

We then retired to regroup.  And where would our course lead?  To the Swamp Woman/Thing.  My, she is hideious.  But, she let us rest in her camp.  Which we did.  We rested.  We healed our wounds.  We tried to figure out what to do next.  Then...it happened!

"Lizard!" I yelled, narrowly alerting the Band of the Buck to the presence of a heathenistic Lizard Man.  After slaying him, it was apparent that he had followed...Sir Tharen!  The God's had given us hope!  After Sir Tharen had rejoined us, with much rejoicing around, we decided to turn back.

Yes, the Swarm of Lizard Men were too much for the Band of the Buck.

We turned back, but still had to fight more of the dreaded lizards.  However, a few amazing things happened on the way back...

The Band turned into monsters!  Some sort of flying thing came to the call of a wizard!  A troll appeared from nowhere!  And some sort of hulking...umbering...THING...also appeared.  But they were on my side!  They fought the lizardmen!  They dined on their flesh!  And before long, the monsters turned back into my companions.  Such (dangerous) amazing magic!

In the end, we returned to Hlint.  And there, after resting and taking a moment in the Wild Surge, we went our seperate ways.

But do not be discouraged...

The Band of the Buck shall ride again!

Buckerrific Exploration!

Hello my countless fans!  This day has brought more Bucktastic adventure!

Much to my dismay, there is still no word from the rest of the (original) Band of the Buck.  Sad, I am.  And, believe it or not, no members of the (current) Band of the Buck were to be found!  But I was not going to simply let my time go to waste.  No sir!  I decided to explore...dare I say it...on my very own!  I went into the Seilwood, a place of darkness and mystery.  And what did I find?  A large green thing charging at me!  But it was no match for me.  O no!  Armed with my wits, and my song, and my rapier, I was able to fell the dreaded beast and, after searching it's body, I found some sort of...well...gland...I think.  It's kinda spiderwebby...and silky...I'll have to think of a name for it some day.

Later on, I found this amazing house inside of a tree!  The house called to me, it did, so I went inside...and met a mage!  She called herself the Mage of the Forest, or some such thing.  And she was very pretty!  Far more pretty than the Lady/Thing of the Swamp, let me tell you.

Before long, however, it was time for me to return to Hlint.  As I walked through the beauty of the forest, I began thinking about crafting a new instrument, something to accompany the Two Greatest Chimes Ever Made.  Now, if only I can find the Silk of the Spider...

Wonderful Songmaking!
« Reply #8 on: February 26, 2007, 02:30:01 AM »
My dearly uncountable fans, today was a day unlike any other!  First, I sat upon Master Ozy's perch, awaiting his arrival.  No arrival.  So far, like every other day...  However!  Seated around a campfire were a few people, one of whom was the beautiful Lady Tialle.  Next to her was a talented bard who, after pecking a few warm-up notes on his lute, began to sing a very enchanting song.  His notes were soothing and calm, lulling the Lady Tialle into a peaceful slumber, but his words were of madness and danger.  As he sang, I could feel the cool wind pick up, making me bring my cloak tighter about me.  And, as the song neared it's end, I felt compelled to bring out my tambourine (the Greatest Ever Made~!) and play along.  It was truly Buckilicious!  After the bard finished his song, a few more people had come over.  Including me!  I had to take the chance to see if the Lady Tialle had read the latest sneak previews of my work, through my mysterious and never-before-met editor simply known as FORUM, and she had!  And she loved it!  Yes!    I then attempted to give her a preview of my newest song, the Ballad of the Lady Tialle, but I was only able to give her a small taste.  It just isn't the same without the 17 piece chime section, you know.  Anyway, I had a chance to meet the bard, whose name was Jearick R Hjar.  He was all flourishy and flashy.  I like him!  I was also able to meet a friend of the Lady Tialle, a very pretty woman named Alliene Shiante.  And you know what she had?  A flute!  A really pretty black flute!  So there we were...I was holding my tambourine...Jearick his lute...Alliene her flute...and this other guy whom I hadn't met just kinda standing there...and it hit me...this must be the Bucktastics! Finally!  Yes!  I convinced them that a song was needed!  I allowed the at-that-time unknown man to borrow my chimes (they're the Greatest Ever Made, you know).  I was on percusion.  Jearick, taking out his ehru, was on strings.  Alliene and Other Guy played the winds.  But..but...what about vocals?  Where was the Lady Tialle when we needed her?  Where was her angellic voice?!  Luckily, disaster was thwarted as Jearick began to sing.  And you know what happened then?  I sang a line.  Yes!  And then he sang a line.  And then I sang a line.  And then he sang a line.  And then I sang a line.  It was Buckeriffic!  Before long the four of us were playing our hearts out!  Even Other Guy was doing a great job!  And he was hesitant to play.  Ha!  He was a natural.  Of course, he did have my chimes.  They are the Greatest Ever Made, you know.  Anyway, our song ended and the world rejoiced!  Is it possible?  Have the Bucktastics been born?  Maybe.  I cannot say for sure.  Afterward, we chatted and gloated a bit.  I learned Other Guy's name; Vaelthos Agrias.  As I said before, a natural!  It turns out he wants to be a sailor.  As it just so happens (as all of my uncountable fans would know, of course) I grew up in a sailing family!  So much in common.  But we had to go our seperate ways before too long.  Other duties, and all.  What?  The song?  Why...here it is!  I'm going to use my especially Bucktastic purple ink for my lines!  Because I like purple, you know.  There's a rare beauty in the North, And it's name is Tyrone One glance turns a city to stones, a second a nation to ruins, No city or Nation tears so cherish,  There is a beauty in the North The city is named Tyrone, there is a purple throne "And in the throne there is a jewel with a thousand eyes," Said the King to the Jester to the shadowy guy  And the Jester had purple eyes And he stole the jewel and hid it between his thighs The King raised high, so annoyed with his lies, "No more!" he said, "I am tired of your disguise!"  Yet he became lost in the Jester's eyes, For the King was into guys! And the Jester hid the jewel in a strawberry pie.  "Jester," said the King, "I am sorry for never saying how I feel." His eyes were serious, like blue cold steel.   "I love you, my friend." The deal was sealed.  And so they hugged, and hugged some more But the Jester could not sleep due to the King's snore The Jester stood up in quite a fluster With the lack of sleep he could muster  So he went to the kitchen to get the jewel To run away in the night But he realized he was a fool For the jeweled pie had taken flight  Some peasant had come late with a knife Into pie did he cut and cracked the jeweled egg To cause Dragon to catch flight  So is the story of the avatar of Pyrtechon A great Red Dragon born in a King's kitchen!  Truly Buckilicious!
