*Connor reads the note with interest and slight amusement. He walks away muttering...*
"Natural causes....interesting..."
*With barely a gesture, he literally fades into the night air as he walks off*

*Jil sees the notice and bows her head in respect.* Hopefully the successor will be just as great if not better. My condolances to the Queen. *She slowly walks away.*

(staring at announcement with confused expression)
What does this mean for the Knights of the Wyrm?
"Natural causes" ... Have to wonder about that verdict.
Who is next in the line of succession? Will there be conflicting factions?
What is the Queen's situation? Is she threatened by political subversion?
Oh, ow, I am getting a headache!!

*Nathaniel walks by and sees the post*
*mumbles to self*
The timing of this event could not be worse. With the Seven Sisters divided ... with the recent edicts of the Mistone Alliance...
A strong hand at the helm is needed now more than ever.
May Lucinda guard his soul.
*walks away shaking his head*

*Chanda passes by the note and stops for a moment before an evil grin crosses her face*
"Well done, well done ... and I didn't even know about the plot, well done indeed. I must inquire as to who's handy work this is, I may require such talent one day.
*walks off wondering who will be next*

Key walks up to the notice, with the butt of a cigar in her lips. Her eyes narrow as she makes out the words.
"Since when did we 'ave're King, eh?"
Shruging, she flicks the cigar on the ground, stomping it out with her heel.

-= The Dragon's Whisper =-
Vol II Num II Apreal 1401
The King is Dead!!
Word reached this writer of King Kareem Waylend's passing. Perhaps due to the King's long years of caring leadership, this brownie took his longevity for granted. All of us will leave forever from these lands at some point. Even the Dragoncalled. It is sad our king had to leave us now, but there are absolutely no signs that anything but fate took him from us.
The messenger, sent on behalf of Lord Shaviro, sought out The Dragon's Whisper in an effort to quell any rumors about the King's passing. To quote, "The rites of succession have begun and will conclude in a timely fashion. Rest assured that the continuity of the Kingdom and security of its people are not in jeopardy whatsoever." It should be noted that Lord Shaviro and the other royal advisors, as well as key representatives from around the world, are together working on determining the King's successor.
The messenger, arriving under the banner of Mistone, bid me speak with Katrien Hommel. Upon speaking with her, I am convinced of her knowledge of the situation now and going forward. She too very much wishes for the Dragoncalled to stand in support of the process underway to find a new leader. It is clear, I think, that there are forces that would wish to distract us with rumors and lead us into chaos. We must not let that happen.
Lord Shaviro is the nephew of the King, son of his youngest sister. He and the Princess are working tirelessly to sort through the process of succession. The residents of the castle in Pranzis and, surely, all the people of the land should take this period of mourning to recall the life of this great man. Though he no longer lies in state, I encourage all readers to travel to Pranzis to judge the mood of the people there. I am confident that they will see sad but proud citizens, prepared as we all are to support a new king or queen.
On a final note, Katrien wished to remind us that there are people across all the lands displaced by the very battles we Dragoncalled seek to win. A skirmish for us on a field of battle means little to us the next day. We leave behind, though, trampled fields and burned homes. The price of victory no doubt, but a price born more heavily by the peasants we seek to defend. Lend your aid in coins and services as you are able, be it to your god's temple, the people of Roldem, or closer to home.
Long live the King!
((OOC
Since I won't be playing much over the coming weekend, I'll post the full text of this "special edition" of The Dragon's Whisper. Enjoy!

Brac'ar returns to the Wild Surge and reads the paper. 'Terrible terrible timing, to just die like that... But that paper should really check their spelling, the man's name was Karem..."
