    Aqwena the sea elf
    « on: June 09, 2006, 02:27:13 PM »
Aqwena grew up deep in the ocean. She has spent the first 130 years of her life living in the ocean, riding the tides, hunting, fishing, and simply enjoying life.

Now at the age of 130 years, and an adult by elven standards the desire to learn and see the world has overtaken her. Curious about the land and the creatures that walk it, she has set out to explore and see it all. Her parents, having spent their entire lives issolated within the ocean depths have been unable to tell her of the world above the sea. She has no idea what to expect when she sets foot upon the land. She is very shy and timid, uncertain of her new surroundings. However, confident of her magical abilities she has found the courage to press onward and see these new and exciting things. Every experience no matter how trivial brings uncertainty. She is completly ignorant of the languages of the surface folk. Communication is a serious issue for her. The 4 legged creatures that inhabit the new world intrigue her. The massive brown and green things that grow up from the earth are intimidating. The small creatures that fly through the air are inspiring and boost her spirits. The 2 legged upright walking humanoids pique her curosity to no end. Her wanderings since leaving the sea have brought her to the town of Hlint. This is where the next story of her life shall begin.

Today Aqwena has stumbled upon the settlement called Hlint. Tired and confused, uncertain of her surroundings she has summoned her courage and entered Hlint

Hlint was a fascinating place. The first thing I saw upon entering was a short hairy man. He carried a large weapon with edges on both sides. It looked like it could chop me in half! He wasa powerful looking man, and none to friendly. I stayed away from him. While sitting on a bench I quietly watched people bustle about. A group of females of a race close to my own, carried on a long and lengthy discussion about what I have no idea. But I enjoyed listening to their voices. Their speach while somewhat close to my own was still unknown to me. A fair skinned man tried to speak with me as well. He did not look to friendly. I was not fooled by his fake smile. Him too I stayed away from.

After some time I decided to go explore the surrounding area. I followed the road west and came upon another settlement. This one much larger than the place called Hlint. While wandering the streets I noticed many poeple coming and going from one particular building. I quietly snuck in and looked around. It seemed to be a meeting area of some kind. Although nervous, I went inside and looked around. A nice man with a strange musical instrament aproached me and we sang together! Oh it was wonderous to listen to his music. We sang together for some time, although I had no idea what words he said. I think he said his name was Freldo or something like that. His language was difficult for me to understand. I stayed around a bit longer then left for the evening. Oh and a nice female gave me some food and drink!

The next day I returned to Hlint. While travelling I met some more fascinating people. Boilstered by my starving belly I approached one hadsome pointed ear male. He offered me water and fish which I gobbled up. He then showed me into Hlint and a place to catch fish. I am so hungry! The strange foods I have sampled leave me feeling sick and ill. I much prefer seafood. I watched this strange male as he used a curved item to fling sharp little spears at fish. It seemed to work well, although I much prefer to simply swim after my meals and stab them with my trident. The strange object he used looks much to small and difficult for my webbed hands to grasp. I fear I shall soon starve to death if I don't get more fish to eat...

Many fascinating things I have seen today. A short and small little green creature attacked me outside Hlint. Luckly I was able to escape. Perhaps when I am a bit stronger I wont have to run away.

While I sat relaxing by the pond in Hlint today, I was humming quietly to myself when several strangers approached me. I was very scared. They all were talking and making loud noises so fast. One of them heard my singing and he started singing along with me. This was very nice. He also gave me some fish to eat. I was very thankful to him. I think these strange people know something about music and sounds. Several of them have been able to sing along with me. One such female was smart enough to actually communicate with me useing sounds and music. This was very nice, and we sat together for a long time singing and sharing emotions with song. She was very good! I think the sounds of her name are SHILIN...but I am not to certain. I overheard an annoying male say her name a few times. He was quite stubborn and would not leave me alone. Although I must say he did have a nice voice. The female S H I L I N  took me to the larger settlement I visited the day before. It is a nice place right next to the sea! Oh it felt so good to finally sea the big water once again. I still yearn for the deep ocean depths, the tides and the sea life. I miss home terribly however I know I must be strong and press onward. I must learn more about the surface creatures...
