Can the Staff of the Hierophant be enchanted?
« on: July 27, 2006, 08:41:42 AM »
Corba has recently been given this wonderful staff from a friend.  Can the staff be enchanted with silver and elemental damages, given that it appears to be a dropped item and not a created one?

I prsume that you can enchant and enhance the staff like any other staff. you can even change its appearance if you dont like its looks.

Just a warning on that though...if you use the single use of Sleep on the staff, it's gone.
And by that, I mean the entire staff, enchantments and all. Gone, non-refundable, etc.
Personally, I would not recommend it.

Thank you Dorg, Weeblie and Lin'da.  Duly noted about using the sleep spell.

also, you can't get them to have elemental visual FX.  On the plus side though, Kor loves them since they're one-handed staves.

One can think of that as an anti-robbery device...  "You want to steal my staff, eh? No way!" *uses the sleep ability*  :P

We should have made all the items that are equippable that have single use or charged uses with a number of charges thats not divisible by the # of charges per use so this wouldn't be an issue.

i.e. Staff of the heirophant, Casts Sleep 2 charges per use - staff has 3 charges

I don't actually see it as an issue that needs to be solved. In this case, without the sleep (which may or may not ever be used) it's really no different than an oak club/staff....which by the way, would likely never be in the same drop group as this branch...
Many of the new items were designed to be expendable. That some people chose to hold onto them for whatever reason is a choice, but not anything I see as a problem. If anything, if people are holding onto these branches then maybe they should be moved up a drop level, as they're getting a "free" +1 item, which generally sells for 2000 GPs
