Question about classes and char development
    « on: August 23, 2006, 07:56:46 PM »
I'm dev'ing my char at the moment and I wanted to know for future reference if class fusion is allowed?

Example: I want to mix Assassin and Corathian Unholy Champion

I'm 99.9% sure it's not allowed but I figured it can't hurt to ask.

    Thanks in advance!

New Question: I Ifigred instead of making a new thread I'd just update this one. Since all evil alignments and CN aren't allowed for new chars does that mean that all gods that use those alignments are also not allowed? I'd like to use Pytrechon or Corath(moreso Pytrechon) but I'm not sure if I can use em if the alignments aren't allowed.

Evil is restricted on Layo, as it says in the submission guidelines in the submission forum. No character may start out as evil, and LE (or more rarely, NE) must be reached through a very long period of roleplay. CE will never be playable, which restricts the Unholy Champion PrC from player-characters.

It's possible to have a Lawful or Neutral Evil Assassin, it would just take a long time.

Hmm that sucks that I can't obtain the class but thank you for the response. What about class fusion?

What do you mean by class fusion, Could you be more specific? Multiclassing is premitted on Layonara so long as its definined and approved clearly within character approval. However, A build must have no less than 5 levels in any specific class , and those five levels must be taken before level 20.

Additional class levels can be approved after creation, but you must have a clearly defined character development thread (Think of this like a journal for your character posted in the given area) And/or a successfully ran CDQ. For Prestige classes, Both are usually required.

Prestige classes will not be granted for approval at character creation and must be requested and approved later on.

Furthermore, some classes require that once you leave that class, you can never again travel down upon it. To my knowledge, the Paladin and Monk classes are the ones that work like this.

I hope that answers some of your questions.

By the way. Its good to see you here! :)

Thank you for the responses! In regards to the multiclassing. I'm going to start as a rogue. But I'd like to advance toward a Shadowdancer/Duelist or a Shadowdancer/Spellsword. Would this be possible down the road?

PrCs are not approved at character creation, however with good character development, the team may approve a PrC at a later date.  With only a Rogue base class, you would be able to take Shadowdancer or Duelist, if approved, but not Spellsword since that requires the ability to cast arcane spells.

I'm not sure on what the policy would be for getting two PrCs, but I imagine it is pretty rare if at all possible.

In addition, the Rogue Shadowdancer/Spellsword would be totally impossible.  It'd need at least four classes, which is prohibited.  In addition, even if two PrCs are allowed, you'd probably have to hit epic levels before that'd happen... and unless you're playing 60 hrs/week, I really cannot imagine that happening before Layo V.2 moves into the spotlight.

In single player I've done a fighter/weaponmaster/champion of Torm. It's a fun build, not drasticaly over powered *chokes on that comment when he remembers weaponmaster is part of it* Err... well, the weaponmaster keeps the champion PrC from getting too buffed up with holy stuff because of the stats needed for the prerequisite skills. since most of the champions stuff is cha based.

          Hear, hear.

What does it say about me that I've never even considered playing a character towards evil?

I meant classes.  I think there are very, very few character concepts that can't be realized using only the basic classes.  Or the basic races, for that matter.

I just enjoy the methodical and calculating nature of evil chars >:D I think I'm just gonna stick with Neutral since evil=nono.

Edit: I edited the main post with a new question. Thanks for any assistance.

You may use such gods as Pytechon or Corath as your Deity so long as you manage to both reflect the followings of your God (Less than a cleric would though, I presume) AND Manage to stay within your set Alignment.
