Tumble
« on: September 11, 2006, 03:20:36 AM »
I am looking for some information on tumble.  What equipment can boost tumble?  I know there are armors and boots.  I know I could where jewlery to boost dex and therefore tumble but are there belts or gloves or cloaks or staffs or anything else that can add to tumble?  Also I have heard that tumble only avoids attacks when you are moving in specific directions like away from combat but the description in LORE looks like tumble is effective for any combat movement.  Which is true?  Thanks.

Tumble is used whenever you trigger AoO due to movement.

What Weeblie said and...

Tumble is a pretty good skill, if you don't stay still and have a high enough skill on it, chances are you'll be able to avoid every attack of oppotunity aimed at you.  Also, it's pretty useful if you have to peel away to protect some other character, just turn and run.

I don't know about belts, cloaks or staffs but I know that a few pair of gloves that Rawkwin already has helps.

Also, every 5 points dedicated to the skill adds a +1 dodge bonus to AC, which is always nice but don't be caught flat footed.

How do you avoid being caught flat footed?  Does clicking to attack prevent it?  What about moving backwards?  Casting?

AFAIK, according to the pen and paper rules, actions before your first round's initiative and the being on the receiving end of a surprise round are considered being flat footed.

I don't know how this works in the NWN engine but it's safe to say that if you're immobilized, you give up all dodge and dexterity bonuses.
