« on: September 13, 2006, 06:28:22 AM »
Any of you who can make the trip... please go tour Prantz (Pranzis) today before the update ... and then swing thru again after the new Prantz is in place.

I want to hear what y'all think of the changes... pay close attention to the detials of each area before... sights and sounds... lighting etc.. and then again post update!

Post your comments here!

Thanks!

Very nice work. The changes (especially the use of lighting) have managed to change the entire feel of the place, while keeping it recognisably the same city
The whole place now has a great Dark feel to it, and I wouldn't want to mess with those guards!

I especially like the fact we now have a view of outside the city walls

Looks alittle dark couldnt tell if it was day or night though. There are two flags infront of the castle door that say pranzis army officers corps. I liked the Boregar statue setup. I dont know where people will meet now but they use to mainly meet infront of the toranite temple. Now that area has the arena there and seems small and crowded. And is Boregar afraid of trees? :)

edit: Love the side path area so I dont have to worry about running through the city with my horse.

It's the Dark Ages remember, dust covers the sky :) If it wasn't a truckload of work, we'd darken all areas, but it is, so we don't, so you just have to RP there's no sun.

Ed is right I made Prantz dark... the only light comes from torches, leaking out of windows, etc... because I already knew about the darkened sky.

After a run thru today though I do wish I had put a few more things in a couple of the "wide open" areas.... at the time.... that was the look I was going for.... but now im not sure.

I moved a bit around and I must say....... well done
- Also the sounds "attention" when you are close to the guards
- the heavy reinforced gate is good...which reminds me that if you go to "the living area" and then into Prantz....there is no hevily guarding or fense/fence - I would make it look the same there or similar.
- I went into the area of the Castle (for broegar I assume) - I went only a few steps in and turned around. This place gives you really the feeling of something big + I didnt want to enter a place..well done.

Good night all.....1½ hour sleep then I log in to see what happens for the trial... (if I hear the alarm)

I would like to see the Prantz arena actually be like the other PvP arena.  The one caveat I would make, though, is that sometimes it seems the other arena is treated as an OOC area.  The Prantz arena should be strictly IC, with RP all the way, since it is so visibly public.

In either case, the arena in place of the former temple was a bit of genius.

All Layonara areas (arena or not) should be IC.... Those that are not in character are doing a bad job RP'ing. The server is about RP.

You have to admit, though, L, sometimes a pair of players just wants to see who'd win, even though the characters would have no reason to duel (and many times, plenty of reasons not to).

I've only been there two or three times, myself, and one of those was mostly OOC by consent of everyone there. Someone else showed up and we flipped back IC. *Chuckles.* It was interesting, to say the least.

EDIT: I'll take a look at Prantz sometime Monday; my time's rather full 'till then. I really look forward to seeing what's been done, though.

A shame I can't make the executions. *Sigh.*

The new Prantz is wonderfully done, what I've seen of it anyway.

I haven't explored the area of the castle or the Rofireinite temple, or even the district of the guilds yet, but I do like the shortcuts that were put in in the Haft Lake District.  Also the addition of all the guards (almost litterally a guard on every corner) is really great too.  I also like the new 'sewer entrance' style entry for the temple of Branderback and the re-designed interior for the merchant shops.

Putting credit where it's due.

Pan asked for the Branderback entrance change.

I dont know who actually made the path around Prantz thru the lake district... I didnt (wasnt asked to and I guess I never thought of it  ;) ). It's a very good thing though!!

I really like the changes I have seen in Prantz too. Nicely done.  The gaurds are a great touch for such a strict place.

The bulk of the changes were made by Guardian_452, the suggestions on how it should be/look/etc. were hashed out as a team effort including EdTheKet, Leanthar, Pankoki and darkwulf365. I myself added the bypass through Haft Lake since Prantz is a choke point and animals are not allowed at all.
There was going to be a stable in Haft Lake, but the residents only obtained half of the necessary signatures.

I really like the new atmosphere G, the tyrannical Lawful Evil regiment is clearly seen in the decoration, the lightning and particularly the well designed NPCs and their equipment. Very good job there.
On the critique side, I think that the Market Place, the Guild District and the Courthouse place are a bit empty, they could use some more building love. I LOVE the arena, definitely Prantz Main looks fantastic. Good Job all around.
Oh and the Branderback temple will be changed, for now I simply wanted the sewer entrance. Eventually it will lead into the actual Prantz sewers that will lead into a Branderback "House of Trade" hehe... But for now, enjoy the cosy temple!

Remember that barracks, like those at the Courthouse, often have a wide open area for drill.  If things are added to fill the area a bit, don't add too much there.

perhaps a training area off to the side there, I agree it looks a bit too open in a few areas. But at the same time I felt it fit the feel of the new city.

What would be awesome is a whole formation of soldiers actually training over there !!! but wow that would be a lag nightmare!
