Druids and gathering CNR

Can a druid collect things while shape-shifted, be it loot or CNR?

I'm asking this because in some places CNR is guarded by what I would consider forest's guardians (especially Treant and maybe Renders too, though I'm not too sure about the later) and I would not like to have to dispatch them just to collect a few herbs or fruits. And as the Druid as access to an animal form that gives him a bonus to Hide and MS, I wondered if it is allowed to use it to gather things.

Does the druid have hands when shifted? Pockets? Bags?
  The answer here is most likely "no". The animal forms simply lack the manual dexterity to loot, pick CNR, etc....not to mention the problem of how a quadraped would carry such items and still walk, especially if stealth is intended.

*grins* Yes, thought so too, hence my question, just to have things clear.

Guess I'll need to have to either buy the CNR or confront the guardians.
