A Thick Leather Bound Volume titled Honora's Diary
« on: September 20, 2006, 08:18:25 AM »
*The first thirty-three pages of this are mundane musings on tailoring, Michael Mordicai, her family, her Path of Wind, and her friends.  No mention of the MAF, the Lich, Drezneb, her part in defending the Great Oak, or anything other world activities.  The following entry is the first that mentions Broegar or Prantz.*

Well, strangest things.  I was not too sure about Broegar for the longest time he was with Blood's army after all and had demons in his army.  But he is merciful!  He spared most of a group of lawbreakers, some I sort of know from Hlint but since I haven't lived there for so long I barely know them anymore.  And they did break the law.

I've talked to Mikey and I've decided.  I'm going to work for the govenment.  His dad does after all and from what he's told me Derrick Mordicai is a good man.  Adventuring is fun but I think I need to give something back.  I'm trying to learn orc so I can work for demi-human affairs and maybe help others like me.

Orc lessons tomorrow on Mistone!

How can a pelt be so easy to cure and so hard to sew?  Malar pelts.  You think it's going to be really easy because they took the tanning oil so evenly and didn't streak and the fat layer came right off when you s...ed without tearing.  Just try to sew them though it seems like the grain of the hide goes every which way and the needle turns position with every jab and the hide fights the needle like it's still alive.

Phooey.

Add hard to kill to the malars.  Spent over a week hunting those things and they regenerate and they have poison claws but that doesn't bother me so much bugt they have these mind attacks and they seem to be moving twice my speed.  And the vampires...

Ouch.

Been everywhere lately with lion skins, saw a few friends in Hlint.  One made me a wedding dress!  It's lovely.

Note to self:  Lose the hat though.  Hat is not good and does not work with my ponytail at all.

Saw Mikey finally, we spent a little time together.  He's been busy getting coal and sand, and helping some friends.

Nothing much more except Junior's baby is due soon and they think it's a girl!  I have to go see her when she's born.  Oh, and I saw Ferrit and Kyle's baby, he's adorable and seemed to like me!  I got to hold him.

Well, I have a job!  I'm working in the clerk's office to move files on Pratz citizens over to Broegar's format.  It's boring but I got paid and everything.  At least I'm helping.

Still working.  Lots of papercuts.  Lots and lots of papercuts.

Had off for a few days and traveled across Dregar with Kyle and Ferrit, gathering skins and other raw materials.  Was fun!

Have spent my time off looking for Micheal and hunting dire bear and lions.  Very lonely, I've only one note to let me know he's not dead.  I may have to quit to search for him in case he needs my help.  I'll have to speak to my supervisor and see what I have to do.

I hope he's alright please let him be alright.

Still no Mikey.  Adjusted some nice robes a friend gave me and tried a new look.  I don't know how lace will work but it's kind of pretty.

Must work dire bear hides soon.

To work tomorrow, another day another fifty records to transcribe.  I've learned a lot about language and my co-worker has helped me fill in some blanks I'm better than ever at writing.  I think I even have pretty handwriting now since I spend all day doing it.

Need to get rid of the rest of the pies and gold ingots and coal that Mikey had.  Doing no good hanging around the house and even in the coolest part of the house pies won't last forever.

Got killed hunting bear again.  Thanks Haugrun for helping me home.

Got a bunch of lion and crag cat skins though from someone cleaning house.  Going to spend some time making bags!  Time for a spring housecleaning.

It doesn't smell like Mikey in here anymore.

I'm an aunt!  Just got a letter from Junior, his wife had a girl.  The letter is a little late so the girl is a few months old now but her name is Lilah and I'm so proud.  He described her and she sounds so cute I'm definately going to have to visit soon.  I'm an auntie!

I've made a bunch of lion bags I might have to sell some soon.

Going to have a roomate as well, a good friend.  Happy about that.

Met Daralith of the big helmet again in the craft hall.  He had his half-giant woman with him.  He wanted to know if I could make malar bags, which I never have but I'm not going to tell him that so I said yeah sure, and he asked if I could make him some from his skins.

He had a LOT of skins.  I threw one of mine in and dang those bags take a lot you have to double over the skins because of how thin they are.  The barbarian half-giant lady's name is Bakee and she told me behind Daralith's back that he's pretty puny and needs them so he won't walk slow.  Pretty funny she talked that way about him since he's so sarcastic to her and just orders her around but maybe she was just being factual.  Probably.  She's about as strong as Mikey though and way bigger.

End result?  I made three beautiful bags in three tries and was darn pleased.  He seemed pleased too in a drow kind of way.  He told me that I'd be valuable back where he came from!  Compliments drow style, gave me the giggles.  He did pay me well and I kept one of the bags to boot so all in all satisfying.

In between working I have been far and wide getting silks skins and some more exotic things.  I work very hard at my tailoring and can't seem to get any better than I am now but I did find that malar bags sell well since I was able to make another.  I need to get some help taking those panthers down then work on bags but I need a new hobby.  Won't be gemcrafting, smithing or tinkering those bore me and I can't mine anyway and who wants to dig sand all day?  Besides, Mikey tinkered.  Maybe alchemy, that was kind of fun.  Yeah, I'll do that next.

Nothing new at work since I found the rebels dead.  Just a lot of charts but I think we're getting to the end of it I wonder what I'll be doing next?

I think if I see another chart listing name, family name, location, children, livestock, employment, spouses, relatives, birthdates...I'm going to start jibbering.

I need to ask for another job.  I'm starting to dream about charts.

Failed a malar bag.  So danged hard.  Got some more skins and some dire bear skins.  I'll have to be out getting a lot of malar skins soon.  Hope I can work around my work time.

Went to see some court cases a few weeks ago out of curiosity.  The judge was strict but fair.  I felt sorry for the kids but the woman did steal.

Don't know about the gardening guy though.  But if the guard said he was throwing things...still, she didn't look like she understood gardening.  Two minds on this one.

Still, mostly fair.

Been too disgusted to write.  Failed to make yet another malar bag.  Stupid skins!  Paid some money for that one too.  I have got to get that little preacher experienced enough to cast those nice mind spells so I can hunt those things myself.

Alindor as they're calling it now is free sort of.  Bunch of worldly types made a deal with Milaria and he's all holed up in some mountains now and they're all dark.  And boy are the folks of that continent hopping mad!  Seen papers up all over while I'm getting tailoring stuff, making this announcement and that proclaimation.  Glad I'm on Dregar, nice and not crazy here.

Finally!  I made another malar bag!

Four of five so far.  Already tacked up the for sale notice.  It's a beaut too!

Sold that bag and enough skins to try another!  And a bunch of dire bear skins too.

Something's going on around the Courthouse.  Lots of whisper whisper and some kind of big meeting coming up.  I wonder if they can use a tailor or scribe?  I'd better work on my handwriting if I want to do that.  Maybe they'd let me?  I can spell really good.

Hmm, scribing.  Need to suggest that.

I've enough skins to try for another malar bag and a trade if I succeed.  That nice gentleman in Hlint said he'd teach me my father's language if I provided him with a bag!

Seems fair, it's obscure and it's not like anyone else seems to know it.  I'll attempt the bag in a few days.
